HP's and Dell's suck somethin fearce. I agree with DonFck. Bulid one yourself or buy the parts and have a local computer repair shop build one for you. Its cheaper and you get way better equipment.
i cant complain, i have a HP pavillion Laptop....17inch screen, 3.4ghz P4, 100gb h/d, 1gig ram....256mb x600 graphics card...
a lot of my mates are jealous just how good bf2 plays and looks on my laptop compared to their pc's...haha
have had this now for 14mths, without a single problem...touch wood.....
but if i was to have a desktop pc/tower.....i would never consider a brand name pc....as they already mentioned......local pc shop for supply, or supply and build will saves you a fortune...or mean you can get the 7900graphics card, or dual-core for the same price....

Hp, Gateway, Dell, and others are mass produced. Like cars and food, it's more fun to "build your own," but sometimes cheaper and easier to buy mass produced. But components can be faulty, or mis-installed, whether by them or you. If you are a patient problem solver or have someone to back you up, build it.
me and my friends all bought hp dv5000 laptops for work and some side games. these laptops are supposed to be 128k dedicated video and 128k shared (total 256k). after about 6 months of bf2 with all settings off or low we just found out that hp doesnt turn on the 128k shared feature from the start. after we found this out and turned in on in the bios our laptops video looked a hundred times better. though not as good as the top gaming laptops.
(one of my friends gave his hp to his wife after only 5 months and bought a dell xps m1710 which rocks on bf2, boy if he only knew how hp screwed him. he maybe out a few grand but at least he's styling online. lol)
aloha
