As I have recently been playin around with the Battlerecorder, I'd like to clarify a couple of things with the guys who have used it a lot and have it enabled on their own particular servers;

1) I take it if you don't download the demos (from the Community / demo bookmark section) to your library pretty quick, they either disappear or become inaccessible, yes?  I have a number of demo bookmarks on my Community page in BF2 but when I try to DL them, I get a couple of different error messages...(paraphrasing) 'unable to find the file on the server' or 'server location not available'...or something like that.  Note:  The newest file I had was from late July...I assume the rotation just deleted it, correct?

2) As some of the searches and tutorials I have seen never really confirmed my comprehension, I also assume the speed of the free cam cannot be controlled or made smoother.  I either get a slightly faster than walking speed or warp factor 2 when I double tap my forward key.  It would be nice to be able to playback at normal speed but have greater control (slower) panning angles or scene "fly bys" with the free cam.  Anyone have any ideas?

3)  Single player recordings I've been dinkin around with has the potential to make some pretty cool vids (a recent interest of mine).  My rig that I run the game on has an AMD 64 3500+, 2 gig of DDR400, and an NVidia 6800 GT PCIe...quite enough to run the game on all high setting and be visually stunning.  I've set up local servers using the server UI and set the auto record to 3...which made my game play pretty choppy in heavy battles.  When I played back the vid...it was very smooth (although it was obvious my in game character was having issues ).  I have not set it back to setting 1 as of yet...would it downgrade the graphic quality alot? (3 was actually pretty clear an clean, very near to what I seen during normal game play).  I do have access to a muuuuch better computer where a server and battle recorder will soon be set up.  My hope is to pull off a setting of 5 on the BR and still run the server maxed.  Has anyone run BR settings above a 3?  How did it look?  What kind of space did the demos take?

Anyway, some input, ideas, and assistance would be appreciated.  I'm working on a couple of vids...if they turn out the way I like (I'm very particular and picky), I'll link them for your enjoyment.  Thanks ahead of time folks.

1.  That is correct.  The video will disappear after a short amount of time.
2.  Press and hold Q to control the speed.  You can pause fastforward fast  or slow etc.,
3. My records look good.  They only start to look like crap when you upload them to online sites like youtube and google video.

I think he is meaning is there any way to increase the speed of the free can view, Q controls the actual demo playback speed. I have noticed the same problem, it is choppy for following infantry, but it isn't fast enought to follow an attack chopper in full flow or a jet.

My problem is that I can't raise the height of the free cam unless I look up with the mouse and press W to go forward... CTRL works ok to lower the cam view point but SHIFT doesn't raise the free cam position like it is supposed to. Anyone had this or know how to fix it?

Double tap w (forward) to move the camera faster, it's a bit too fast though IMO

As a side note does anybody else have a problem when switching the player to follow with "space bar" the playback speed increases?

You can get perfect videos from sites like fileplanet because the person who wants to see it will download the video onto their computer.
