Do you play battlefield 2142 because of the ranking system or for the game itself, the ranking system just there for the convenience?

I play for fun mostly, but it is nice to get awards/promotions. You have to look pretty on the leadboard if you want to be on top.

If you had watched those vids of him on here a few days ago, you would know that that guy has seriously taken the fun out of the game and is a pure stat whore.

Most of the time I will just play for fun. But when I have to chose between attacking or defending a titan I choose to defend purely because I gain more points that way.

I play for points. I calculate, bend rules etc. Why? I want the gear! i hate it when i have to confront a walker with a supersoaker as my main weapon. Or getting outgunned by someone with better weapons, so i'll end up scoring less in a game.

Say for your self, what fun is it to constantly be killed by a person who's cloaked and has a stabelised longrange sniperrifle, while you are still running around waving your basic gear around hoping you score the odd point now and then?

So thanks to the unlock system, i'll play for points. the playing for fun comes when i've unlocked the things i need to actually play the game as i preffer.

I play mostly because it's fun. I'm really pumped up when i'm actually playing with people who have BRAINS. That's what makes the game entertaining... it's when people work as a team and you pwn NUBZ left and right. Yes, i play for the point factor as well because i want my unlocks.... just a few hundred points until my next promo and i'm getting the Pilum H-AVR!

Sometimes I do stupid things just for fun like rushing a flag when i know i will probably die, but usually I want to get as many points as I can to get that next unlock.

the only reason i keep playing 2142 is to get new toys to blow shit up with. BF2 was less fun for me once all the unlocks were taken. i always want what the other guys is using. and once i have it, i want the other thing the guy is using that i dont have.
