I've noticed both people here on these forums and online that some are of the opinion that the cloaking device is a poor piece of crap. It's not. There's a reason I've got over two hundred dog tags.

- Never run AT people if you're going to pop out and knife them. They'll be looking forward, and if the terrain before them suddenly blurs with the contours of a running man, they'll paint the ground with your blood.
- The former applies to all movement with the cloaking device. Stay out of people's ways, and if you can't avoid this, stay still behind cover. I've brushed shoulders with enemies without them noticing me, but you're bound to never be as lucky as that all the time.
- See an entire squad coming your way? Easy! Jump behind cover, let them walk past, but be aware of Support-fellows with magical see-everything helmets. Then draw your knife or shoot them or whatever you want.
- In a firefight, don't run through the crossfire to get close and tear people apart with the Lambert. Think slow, think safe. Run around the two sides behind their hundreds of magic red shields, then start with the medics reviving their Support mates, then take out the Support mates. Beware of grenades if you plan on knifing. And keep clear of reinforcements with magic see-everything helmets.
- If you suspect that someone has seen you, do one of these two: 1) Run to cover very close at hand where you know you can hide well, or 2) If you're in the open, don't stay cloaked, pick up your weapon and kill the bastard(s) (though plural is less likely). Maintain what surprise element you may have.
- When going behind enemy lines to blow up assets, steal tanks, knife commander, whatever, stick away from roads, stay in terrain and hide whenever a vehicle goes by (if you can see them, they can see you). You never know when a Support guy with a magic helmet sees you, do you? Except when he fills you with lead, but hey, that's life.
- For the less aggressive, simply use the cloaking bling as a getaway van; when that Support guy spots your super sniper-location, hit the switch and run to cover and hide until that friendly tank goes by to blow up your enemy.
- Some other helpful tools together with the cloaking trixie are the sprint-upgrades. You run longer, and stay invisible-to-a-certain-degree on a longer stretch.
- Make sure the cloaking device doesn't overheat. If this happens, you'll render it useless for precious seconds while that squad you just saw advances upon you, unknowing of your presence (for now). Take pauses. Duck behind cover, go prone, let go of the switch, take a look at the mini-map and plan your next move.

Rant of the day at 2:22AM Norwegian time, have a good night.

All useful tips!

My personal favorite is the ol' exploding vehicle disappearing act.

Basically hopping out of a tank or similar and cloaking just before it blows up keeping the explosion between myself and the attacking enemy. The unfriendly tank sees the explosion and assumes I am a gonner (unless they are keen enough to keep tabs on the kill logs.) After that a quick run up to them with my c7 out is usually a nice surprise.

Just be careful about Support soldiers; I don't know if I explained it well, but they have a passive unlock so they can see cloaked people. And if there is an enemy UAV above you, well, get outta there .

I always thought that support guys could only see thru the camo when you activate or deactivate it. Are you actually saying that that bollocks, they can see you anyway?

They always seem to know where I am while their team mates bustle past, so yes, I assume that they get a very clear indicator on where you are and where you are moving.

the support NetBat helmets only see cloaked guys if they activate or deavtivate the cammo near them... after that they see one of the diamond shaped thingies over the cloaked/earlyer cloaked guy

does anyone know if the support netbat system works if they are in a vehicle? or is it only when they are on foot?

I do think it works if they're in a vehicle. Not that I use vehicles much, but I remember seeing people's kits when I'm driving around as an Assault with shiny NetBat.

just stand still.. it's the basic principle to not getting seen. Why do you animals freeze up when threatened? I've had plenty of tanks drive straight past me just because I lay down without moving.

For cloaking, monotone backgrounds help a lot. Dark ones too.

Heh, I could count forever the times that happened to me too.  Even without camo, staying in a dark corner is easily one of the best common sense tips.
