Its so effective. Up until now i've always used auto or 3 shot burst, rarely using single shot. I just played some Karkand and exclusively used single shot with both the ak-101 and M16. My accuracy for rifles is now 28% according to BF2s. Instead of throwing half a clips worth of bullets at an enemy, i'm now using 4-5 shots max for killing an enemy.

So if you want to up your accuracy in your stats and improve your overall shooting ability, use single shot.
Single shot forces you to have patience in some ways and will improve your aim dramatically overtime.

Since July of 2005, but I just never bothered to use single shot. I've known the function was there since the day I bought the game, but I just never bothered to use it extensively. Up until now that is.

No need for the attitudes either. I'm just posting a simple tip. Posting "you fail" doesnt add much to the topic.

hey man i agree with the semi auto shit. the g36 on semi is a killer at pretty long ranges and still fast enough for cqc. but anything other than an MG i use on semi.

Singleshot is a must with the L85, there's no auto on that gun (dont mean that literally obviously)

there are only a couple guns that I use and use singleshot only, thats the PKM (although you cant toggle between singleshot and auto, one fast index finger is all ya neeeed), and the G3, oh and of course, the Sniper rifles, all other guns I use in 2-3 shot bursts, including the AK-101, that thing is dange med-to-long range in 2-3 shot bursts

I mostly use the 2-3 shot burst

Not too bad actually. I can click really fast and it reduces the recoil.

Actually, with the hitreg trick posted earlier, the l85 on full auto is deadly grim.

I use single shot alot on the m16, very rarely with the AK tho. ONly distances 50+ m away.

I havnt really used the L85 much either, didnt really like it when i first got. But then i decided to work on my medic hours in order to get the expert badge. And now i love to kill FAV gunner, Tank gunners, AA gunners and whoever else gets in my crosshairs with a nice clean headshot. Its ok at close range too, compared to the G36E, but not to the AK.

I use semi auto quite a bit when engageing a long range, the l85a1 is deffinatly a head shot gun, also the m16's at long range will kill with a good burst aimed at the upper torso.

If you learn to control the gun in full auto and learn to do small and controlled bursts (which is just as accurate as the single shot) you will not be caught off guard with your gun stuck in single shot.

Thats why I have the rifle key set to the side arrow on my mx518...I also have shock paddles set there as well. Its easier than using mouse wheel to switch..just press the arrow key and I can switch between single and auto really fast.

I can switch between rifle and shock paddles about 20 times in 5 seconds. Its not macros btw, my mouse just has some unused buttons. But I can revive, shoot someone, and revive again reALLY FAST...definately gives me a bit of an edge.

You fail to see my point.  If you are running around using single shot at any time, there will be a point when you forget to switch back and if, for example, I run round the corner at you, you WILL lose whereas having your gun on auto means you have a chance of beating me when rego for fails me.  If rego is working in my favour, you will be dead before you have a chance to switch to auto

A skilled and disciplined player can use single shot whilst using auto, just click once!!!  The fact is, if you come up against an enemy in a close up battle and you have your weapon on single shot and he has his on burst or full auto...you lose (providing he is a fairly capable player).  Now if you do what i suggested before you can quickly revert your fire rate to suit every situation possible.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

And what's even better than single shot is not looking down your sight or scope at all. That way you can easily tell what your deviation is going to be and the gun is just as accurate.
