First had this problem today after updating EA downloader. I logged in to play 2142 just fine but when I tried to join a server it gave me an error saying I had an invalid CD key. After trying numerous times I found that others with the same problem had reinstalled and solved it. When I tried to uninstall the game through Add/delete programs and the uninstall shortcut for the game nothing happened and the game would not uninstall. I finally ended up manually deleting the files from my comp, now when I go to reinstall I put in the disc and click install on the menu it will load the install wizard but when its done loading it dumps me back to my desktop and no install windows come up. I have had the game since release and this is my first problem any help is greatly appreciated.

Please read. I uninstalled my game to try to fix the issue and now my game will not reinstall.
Yeah, ive got the same problem. My installshield wizard will pop up for a split second and then go away and do nothing. I go to "add or remove programs" in windows and try to uninstall the original program and get the same thing. This is just fantastic. Now I have to work the rest of the week and will have to wait till god knows when to fix this issue.
Digression - Why is EA customer support only open 8am-5pm PST? Why the hell are they not open later? I live in PST and I also have to work from 8-5. How many of you gamers are playing on your PCs at work or at school? Why are they not open on the weekends when the majority of people play fucking video games?

Had to system restore and that solved the problem which was caused, ironically, by the EA downloader update. Sys restore and don't let it update the downloader. Dumbasses at EA...
I thought this was just another 'zomg liek inval1d ceedee keyz!!!111!!' thread. But now I read and saw that it just dumps you back to the desktop.

Ya I fixed it. Didn't mean to come off as an ass but I was pretty pissed. Here is the official EA link on how to fix it the correct way EA Customer Support. How could they be so stupid to screw up their own product with a totally separate update?
