***SCROLL DOWN AND CHECK OUT MY OTHER QUESTION****OR DROP YOUR INPUT ON THIS FIRST ONE***

Yes, another 'HELP ME,HELP ME' thread.  Well, you guys are my best source of information, so I toss these out to the BF2s guys..

I built my machine from scratch a few months ago, and I feel I'm being held back by the vid card.  So far I'm not getting the results (in game) that I thought I would.  I went with a AGP motherboard because I recently purchased my current videocard, and built everything else around it.

Heres my build..
3.2p4 Hyper Thread
Gigabyte Motherboard (8IPE1000-G/L)
2GB dual channel ram (4x512)
SB Audigy audio card
vid card is a Nvidia 6200 OC BFG 256 MB
    (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp … 8124982622)

My first quick question is what is aperture size on a motherboard?  take a look at this:

AGP

Revision        3.0
Rate        4x, 8x (8x enabled)
Available Rate        0x0000000c
Selected Rate        0x00000008
Aperture Size        128 MB
Sideband Addressing        supported (enabled)
Fast Write        supported (enabled

thats a readout from my motherboard regarding the AGP slot.  Should the aperture size (128 mb) match the video card memory size? (256mb)

Final question.  Sticking with AGP and NVIDIA!!  what could (or would) be a nice upgrade from my 6200 Geforce OC?  Nothing too crazy, but something that will give me a decent boost from my current build.  I feel what I built (processor and memory wise) is pretty good, but a little more help from a GPU would help..

thanks as always,

Bungalow Junkie Kid

would this be the one?

Or maybe this MSI?  2 DVIs... yumm
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814127220

and real quick, what is more important a faster core clock, memory clock, or more onboard memory (256mb vs. 512mb) and probably at least 12 pipes right?

the top ones the one you want. The others PCI-E.

Thanks for all the input.. after doing some research, i have another question for you guys:

Should I upgrade to a decent card that is SLI ready, knowing that i'll probally upgrade my board to SLI?
Or just stick to a normal card.. and then upgrade to a PCIE board?

heres the SLI card I was thinking of:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814125039

And heres the other choices I had:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814143069
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814133176
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814127219

Any thoughts on not going/going with MSI vs. PNY vs. BFG vs.GIGABYTE....   they all make geforce 7600 GS

Depends how much you wanna pay. If money isn't an object and you're dead set against going PCI-E with a new mobo then this is the best you can get for AGP.

It's actually a 7900GT GPU but nvidia wouldn't let Gainward call it a 7900 card.

I've got it and it's a fantastic card.
I would like to jump up to a 7800 (7900) gt.. but money is sorta an option  (Fiance cant stand my gaming, so spending 200+ on a video card.. wouldnt be nice)

I just built my system, which is AGP based (I built it around my current AGP GPU, which was pulled from my old machine)  so going PCI E isnt anywhere in the near future.. so I wanna get a little more power out of my current build, so it will last for at least another year...

so it looks like I'll be settling around the 7600gs range.. is there any diff. between manufacturers?? (MSI vs. PNY vs. BFG vs.GIGABYTE)

and whats more important, memory size (256 vs 512) pixel pipelines, or core clock speeds?

I think BFG are a pretty good make and have a habit of factory overclocking there cards and still giving you a guarantee.

Worth a look.
yeah, I havent had any problems with my BFG 6200 OC..

Im leaning towards this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814143069

or a PNY build:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814133176

very similar specs.. pny is a tad cheaper.. but it may be worth the extra bucks to stick with BFG
SOoooo.. if anyone is reading this.. i just upgraded from a 6200 OC to a 7800 GS
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814143046

Newegg dropped the price, so  I decided what the hell... strike one up on the credit card...

16 pipes from 4... yeah, I cant wait for it to arrive...

anyone out there have a 7800 GS??  if so, are you satisfied??

It's one of the better AGP cards.  It will get displaced by the X1950 Pro as the best performing AGP card, but hey, you can't always wait for the next big thing.  If that's what was available when you were ready to buy, then that's the right choice to make.

I myself like my new X1950XTX.
