The only time I baserape is when it will give my team the win, if it will hurt my team then I will use my ammo somewhere more useful. The only map I can understand people complaining is in Wake Island, but I don't rape the carrier there, because taking out their boats is easy enough and killing full helicopters quite a fun thing to do. : )

Even with both essex turrets spamming missiles at you it's not that hard to not die in a J-10. Problem is peeps seem to forget that the turrets also have a big arse minigun on them which chews through any jet or chopper, don't require a lock on time, aren't effected by flares and have a longer range than a chopper TV missile. In all honest anyone who's half good at using the guns in a jet shouldn't have any trouble using the guns on the essex to nail jets with, just takes a bit of practice.
With that all said, we haven't allowed uncap rape on our server for about a year now. It made the game lame, not only for all the noobs who for some reason seem to be happy to stand around waiting for a jet/chopper just to repeatedly get jet/chopper/arty whored every 10 seconds, but also for the 20 or so people on the winning team who didn't get a jet or chopper and don't see a single living enemy for the entire round. It's not about being realistic (lets face it the game isn't realistic anyway), it's a game which is supposed to be fun, and when only 4 or so people out of 40+ are having fun there is something wrong.

I love the Essex ! Great against Helios and the occasional noob attacking the carrier in a glorified zodiac. But when it comes to planes, it can be quite hard to target the hit box(es), especially if I'm lagging. IMO all is fair in love and simulated war.

Any decent pilot will smack the rear essex gun and then the front one, and then proceed to rape the shit out of the carrier, it is that simple - a high attack and the essex does not see it coming because who sits around with the essex guns pointed straight up? No, you want to look around in them so you never are looking vertical...
Anyways, base raping in the J10s is teh homo and is why nobody plays USMC since they nerfed the blackhawk, because the USMC carrier is impotent at best. If you want just as many points, but more legit kills, wait till they fly halfway over the water, then shoot them down, they are too far from land to swim, and too far from the carrier to make it back alive. Hence if you have any sense of how to fly, you can kill just as many, but with more sport. In the end, thats not even sporting because USMC really has no hope but to pray someone gets a flag before both J10s and Z10 are raping.
I still think my idea is the best.
Get a squad leader to fly to the airfield and bail in the f35b, spawn 5 guys on him, cap the airfield and bingo, USMC won the round..

It sucks. Every good j10 pilot will first engage the left essex, make a 270° left turn, bomb his shit and stays out of range of the other essex. If you are with 2 j10's you both kill a essex with your main gun. They are destroyed before they can shoot at you. Then you can bomb away, go to airfield, reload and repeat. Nothing you can do.
Now if I get in the essex and shoot at a j10, missiles will fly to them, make a impossible turn and head for the friendly full blackhawk that just got lucky to get up. BOOM, 6 teamkills, 6 punishes.

Too bad you can't sink the carrier or damage it. And yes, the essex guns are there, but as with other AA, it's nearly impossible to shoot down an average pilot. jet's are waaaay too overbalanced in this game. I have just stopped playing maps with jets..sometimes even choppers.
it's shitty but it swings both ways. once the round is done, there's usually some payback with a global team switch. your team can start raping them now unless they're scared and whore one team only. a good essex gunner against an average/decent pilot can keep them occupied so that some people can get off the carrier. with the essex if friendlies are in the air nearby i rarely use the missiles as they have a tendency to find them before J10s.
