Question: Why is it that the most balanced maps are also the most hated? Songhua, FuShe, Daqing, Zatar....
Everyone loves karkand...yet nobody is saying that its balanced. Ditto with Sharqi
i reckon unbalanced maps can be much more fun than balanced ones, with the latter just feeling contrived and artificial. unbalanced maps are more intense and interesting if you're on the underdog side - like taking the airfield on wake and holding it, or my personal favourite, taking the Iron Gator and hold your flags on it in SF. Much more fun than 'die-run to nearest flag/die- run to nearest flag, etc'. that probably why people don't mention balance as an issue with karkand - its just fun and intense precisely because it isn't symmetrical.

to be fair, ALL maps are balanced IF the teams are of equal skill..... and that is a BIG IF!

Mashtuur city:
16 players. USMC have higher ground, and can reach flags faster.
32 64 players. USMC can reach mosque quicker, MEC tank yet again is stuck on lower ground so the USMC tank has a huge advantage. also lets AT dispose of enemy armor much easier.  USMC cap mosque, MEC cannot get vehicles or inf through properly. Some can drop in by the chopper but that doesn't help them enough to overcome their disadvantages.

But hey, what would a clan that has won multiple cups, and is the #1 32 player map BF2 clan know?
Obviously not enough.

Mashtuur is very balanced.
MEC tank is on lower ground. In a tank V tank battle lower ground will win, as tanks can't point there barrel down but they can aim up.
MEC can get to Mosque just as quick as USMC at the begining of the round, its just very few people go the right way. Choppers give complete mobility to capture any flag anytime, there are also many routes to take to get to everyflag via transport, so it is next to imposible to contain an equaly skilled team. Flags will and do change hands on regular occasions, usually giving the win to the better team oriented players.

Other balanced Maps include Songhua, FuShe, Daqing, Ghost Town.
Oman and Zatara are close but I think there is a very slight advantage to MEC as there Airfields are closer to the rest of the flags giving quicker rearm/repairs for planes and choppers. On Oman it can be a double edged sword tho making it easier to steal vehicles are attack them while they are still grounded, But they get a bomber to compensate.

All maps I'm thinking of 64 size with 64 players of equal skill.

Dragon Valley is another pretty good map, and not as many hardcore J10 whores go there. Get a good F35B pilot and it's perfectly even.
If you need a good anything then the map can't be balanced.

Wheres the jets then? And mobile AA. Actually, it's lacking big time.
Sharqi is biased in the MEC's favour with THREE uncaps, a chopper with a devastating cannon and 2 pieces of armour which are in battle right away, whereas the US single piece of armour gets into action too late.
The US only win on Sharqi if the MEC team is seriously shit or has no plan on capping any flags...which I suppose is the same thing.
The US simply has too many sides to defend with less heavy weaponry to do it with.
