I am trying to get onto a server and I keep getting disconnected with the message saying that my connection to server has been lost. I have Verizon DSL. Does anyone know why this happens or any way to fix it

Is this problem only with the game?
Try resetting your modem/router.
If it is 2142 there is a well known bug the keeps disconnecting users from the EA Master Server.

yes, I have no problem on the internet, but it is a problem with the game.

I have no problem getting onto the internet. When I log onto BF2 I am either unable to sign onto a game server or I get disconnected within 1 min. The mesage always says,
"connection to server lost"
"connection to server lost"
Make sure you aren't losing your connection, even for 10 seconds or so.. What patch are you running? If all else fails, a BF2 reinstall should rectify the problem.
I know Punkbuster was having issues, try manually installing the new PB patch.
Check your firewall. It causes 99.9% of all my problems with BF2.
