I just bought BF 2142 yesturday, and after hours of trying to get it to work i am out of ideas.  I bought it from a store so the install is looking for the dvd to be in the drive when i start the game, and everytime it tells me to insert the disk in the drive.  No matter what i do i can't get past this problem, ejecting and reinserting doesn't matter, the disk is perfect since it is brand new.

So i tried using a no dvd exe file, and i can get into the game but when it asks me to enter my EA account info, i click the OK button an it tells me that there is "No Internet Connection Detected".  So i went through all of the procedures to make sure that i have all of the ports open on my router, i even went direct connection to my modem, all with no luck.

So i have emailed EA, but i don't expect them to get back to me within the week.  I am out of ideas, did this happen to anyone else?  Does anyone know anything else that i can try?

All I can think of is your Firewall. That causes almost all my problems. If you have Norton or something (which sucks, takes up 50% of your CPU) just allow 2142 to run and connect to the net.

I am getting Etrust with my new computer, only uses 6% of my CPU.

i figured out that the no cd exe file only allows offline play.  But i still cannot get the game to recognize that the dvd is in the drive.  I have tried making an iso of the disk and using daemon tools setting it as a virtual drive and it still gives me the same error.  I use AVG anti virus and i only use a hardware firewall, which is setup to allow the proper ports through.

Deamon Tools is possibly the problem... Try switching all VirtualCD related programs off
