i guess my most used tactic is to run away like a bitch leaving presents as i go (presents being a trail of nades or a claymore) that way if he follows he usually blows up.

but yeah when its unavoidable i fight. as u said, try and hit them with the sniper and then pistol them, but some times i get lucky with close quater head shots, or they're hurt enough for a sniper hit to finish them

*yes i know i'm not a 'leet' pro sniper, but i'm pretty good*

Generally if ur quick you can pull off a headshot but even if ur wearing heavy body armor its very risky. U miss at all and ur screwed.

What I tend to do is go for an unscoped body shot and switch instantly to the pistol.

As a sniper, you should know your nearest cover at all times depending on the angle that you might get exposed from. Also this is against 1 Assault, as according to the situation you provided. Having said that, here are my choices of moves

Choice #1 (Very close)
1: No-Scope
2: If the round hits but no kill, pull out a pistol. If missed, pull out a knife. This usually gets the guy go in panic and from here I rely upon my technique to out pace the guy so he wastes his bullets.

Choice #2 (Semi-Close)
1: Quick Zoom for HS
2: If the shot misses head but still hit the enemy in whatever place, pistol. If missed, cover myself in nearest cover, take a better aim.

Choice #3 (Medium)
1: Find Cover
2: If I know where enemy is, then I try to pop-up from the cover where & when he least expects it. If I do not know where enemy is, then I start timing myself for the run to the next cover and see if I can see the enemy shooting at me while doing so.

Choice #4 (Long)
1: If I know where the guy is, then I shoot the guy in the head. Simple as that. (Do not mess with snipers when you are at a distance, competent snipers will just own you with HS.) If not, I do the same with the Choice #3.

EDIT 1: I am usually one of those snipers who are far away from the rest of the crowd and rely on the confusion that is induced by my teammates. Also I usually move from cover to cover, and if necessary I WILL CRAWL ALL THE WAY to my sniping spot regardless of the time it takes. Therefore, I usually do not confront in dire situations unless enemy commander is doing his best job possible by spotting everyone (which I haven't seen that many commanders do).

yea im ok at a range and i dont even notice the breathing movement much anymore. i have to get better at hitting running guys tho. is there any bullet travel time, or can u just click when they run into the scope?

Best tactic there is in that situation.

Sniper vs any rifle which is automatic = Sniper loose This happen like 90% of the time in close combat with it if they user is good. Lets not talk about LMG users because they screw you over in close a lot faster than you think.

Normally I just stay on distance and headshot people though I only pick up sniper when I can't get past the enemies so I'm a bit anoyed and pick up my sniper get 5 headshots in a row and get the pin. Then our whole team is able to get to the next flag for some reason.

Also when I'm being sniper on city map I mostly get over 20+ kills and at least 2 headshots pins. :3 Pretty lovely actually and sometimes I even get to the first place with sniper in the kills section.

Also I'm mostly in prone but crouch works ok to.

I charge them with the knife, 9/10 times I come out victorious. If they're stubborn, though, and the FF is off, I'll throw a demo pack at 'em.

Actually some noob did that to me once. I killed him while he was bunnyhopping like a little girl and laying APMs at the same time in a vain attempt to escape.  So I just stayed prone but I could still spin around and shoot things.  It took what seemed like a minute (but probably only 30 seconds) for the mines to disappear.  The dummy was laughing at me right after he died thinking he would get the kill, but I knifed him a few minutes later in the round and gave him a good taste of some Earl Grey teabagging. (or was it Green tea I was steeping that day?? Can't remember...)

well cover yourself with clamores, use the Lambert carbine, it works like a G36 or M4, or the LMGs

Here's a familiar scenario:

Guy pops up in front of you, goes prone. What do you do? I usually either shoot while standing up, or go prone myself. But you have to remember, it absolutely HAS to be a headshot. If you hit him somewhere else, your next best bet is to whip out your pistol with great speed or else you're toast. If you happen to miss your first shot, either take out your pistol with even greater swiftness, or if the area has some sort of cover, run to your nearest it quickly , laying down an APM mine (or perhaps throwing a nade) on the way. It all depends on location.

If the guy is shooting at you while standing, do the same thing, and again, aim for the noggin. I also have a tendency to jump up to the side after I shoot the nearby enemy (no not bunnyhop, just do it once to hopefully mess up his aim and buy you time to reload).

Just remember, to survive, 9/10 times the shot needs to go through the opponent's brains. Take your time to do this at first, practice, and you'll catch up eventually. You'll be able to counter these situations more quickly and efficiently.

P.S.: The knife is your friend too in these types of confrontations. Don't forget that you have one!

Every time I try to charge at a guy with knife from the front he only shoots away max 5 bullets and I'm dead. Doesn't matter what weapon he have, they ALWAYS kill from the front when I'm trying to knife them. You guys must be meeting a lot of noobs if you got a 9/10 success rate from the front.

From behind I can understand and mine is the same unless they get a freaky 180 degree turn 2 shot in the head attack.
