I just started playing BF 2142 and I seem to be getting some questionable performance out of my hardware. I have a Pentium D 805 overclocked to 3.8 ghz, 2 GB of ram, and an x1900xt card. I have all settings on high, with no AF, and 2x AA. Resolution is @ 1280 x 900 or whatever that choice was.
I am getting around 30 FPS average it seems, Very few times do I get higher. But when I get on the Titan finally, my frames drop to about 15 FPS. Very unplayable. I figured with the hardware I have I'd be getting my usual 40-60 fps but for some reason it's not happening. Is BF 2142 really this demanding on hardware? Or could there be some optimizing to do on my system to get better frames?
It's a strong contrast with BF2 which I run @ 1680 x 1050, High, and 4x AA, getting average 55fps or so. Online resources say I should be getting better frames than this as well. Firingsquad.com gives this benchmark: "Radeon X1900 XT 512MB: 39 low, 57 high @ 1600 x 1200, 4x AA, 16x AF".
