As far as I am aware, the current US and EU servers are sponsored servers. The two companies who have given these servers have an advert on the opening page of the site, and know that there is a massive flow of BF2 players who will come through this site. So in their eyes, it is free advertising to a massive market of potential BF2 players who might end up renting a server from them.
Unfortunately, this web site is mainly aimed at BF2, and 2142 is only really an added forum section where all the present members can discuss the new game. Since this site is not a 2142 site, primarily, I cant really see a 2142 server company wanting to just give bf2.com a free server.

Anyway, I guess bfhq will work for now. I just think it would be nice if it were set up like bf2s. You know... so we can check our stats at work and such. I know there is a way but bf2s is just set up better.

We all know that EA are pretty rubbish when it comes to reliability. So why do they want to take on the massive job of the stats web site? With BF2, there are many web sites out there who offer stats, so the individual owners of those web sites are incharge of the coding (i.e. Chuy). So if something goes wrong, then Chuy is to blame (joking), but then Chuy fixes the issue (because he does not work for EA) and things run smoothly. Also, out of the millions of BF2 players, only a fraction of them will visit each stat web site so there will not be a massive load on the one web site.
With EA now though, they have decided to hold onto all the stats and make a web site for themselves. But this means that EVERY 2142 player will go to that site to check stats. Already the site was launched and then went down. Why dont they just let other people get the stats feed and then take all the pressure off themselves, and then they can focus on the more important issues. CREATING BATTLEFIELD 3 !!

I have received a letter from EA/IGN and they asked me to disable the stats services. I am not allowed to collect stats anymore (also if it was only working for 3-4 hours per day). So I had to disable everything. No more stats updates for now. I don't want to make anyone angry there because I am still interested to get access to the stats-feed with permission from them and they told me if I continue collecting stats now, I will not get access to the official stats-feed. They did not say how and when I will get access to the stats-feed, but they said that it will not happen in the near future and that we have to wait several weeks for it ...
I am really sorry for this. I hoped to get access to stats soon (in BF2 it worked very well), but now we have to make a longer pause and wait for their decision and the official stats-feed for us (if we will ever get it; I don't believe it anymore after I read our forums today and saw the new 'official stats' website from EA ...)
