Has anyone else had a problem connecting to servers ? Sometimes I can get on a play ,but, about 75 % of the time it says "Connection failed, please check your network settings". It happens weather I use my router or not. Firewall is disabled. Happens with my Yukon network controller and my nForce network controller. I can play BF2 and other online games. This only happens with BF2142.

Fine, anyway, does anyone have any input that might be helpful. Is there something I am doing wrong or is this normal.DaReJa wrote:

There has to be a reason for this, makes me sick to think I paid 50 bucks for a game I can't play. This is a strange problem. Here is one of the side effects from this problem:
I start up my computer...maybe surf the web and such..start BF2142, try to connect to a server, then bam, connection failed check your network connections. Game hangs at this point for about 20 to 30 seconds. Then I get pissed and exit out of the game. Go back to surf the web and my connection does not work. I restart my browser about 3 to 4 times and it starts working again.
The reason I think this is strange is...It is almost like when you try to connect to a server it either conflicts with your network controller card or changes some setting in windows that detects your controller card. After 3 to 4 times starting a browser windows starts detecting the card again...This is what it acts like anyway.

So anyone any ideas on how to fix this?
Also did you notice it took a lot longer to log in and also to find servers?
Same problem here. Coolest thing about it is that i tried to connect ... bam, like 80% of my tries to connect to a server, it says check your network connections ....
Then a friend of mine connects to the exact same server (for him no prob to connect) and now when i click on join server at my buddy list, i am able to connect, too.
Thx EA/DICE 4 making the server browser even more shitty than in bf2. If I would be in charge I would fire the whole crew who is responsible 4 this piece of crap.

Same thing here, cant connect to jack. It was working fine until about 10 days ago. I actually have to restart everything, modem, router and computer, to get the internet working again.
How about comparing hardware.
I have a linksys cable modem, and a linksys wrt54g v6 running dd-wrt sp2

Yep same prob here as well. I thought it was just the EA server being slow due to not having any problems a few days ago.

I have a linksys wireless setup and it works great, not had a single disconnect with it.
You all opened necessary ports to play with?

@ swingerhead
I´ve a Zyxel Prestige 660HW-67 Router, connected via LAN-cable (as long as wireless sucks 4 gaming, can´t understand how anyone plays with that) to my PCs network card (VIA Rhine III Fast Ethernet Adapter onboard).
Rest of hardware that might concern is PIV 3,4GHz HT, graphics NVIDIA GeForce 6610 XL & Sound C-Media onboard.
@ pedigreeuk
what do u mean with all "necessary" ports to play with?
I hope not the ones of the book? It is just hilarious to open all these ports. U could also deactivate your Firewall. Or r the ports mentioned there only for outgoing traffic?
Edit:
BTW BF2142 even uses ports which are not listed in that great piece of paper they put in the DVD-Case
Here is the report of the Port Mapper as i (succesfully) connected to a server
PID:Process Port Local IP State Remote IP:Port
2928:BF2142.exe TCP 1353 0.0.0.0 LISTENING 0.0.0.0
2928:BF2142.exe TCP 1351 my.lan.ip.here ESTABLISHED 159.153.235.46:18300
2928:BF2142.exe TCP 1354 my.lan.ip.here ESTABLISHED 207.38.11.34:29900
2928:BF2142.exe UDP 1356 0.0.0.0 *:*
2928:BF2142.exe UDP 1361 0.0.0.0 *:*
u see there it uses ports in range from 1353-1361 and these r not listed over there
