Righty-o, the Shock Paddles are the most shameful way of getting killed in BF2, excelled only by the Smoke Grenade, but that another story. This little guide will at least give you the skills to paddle someone before you die, and at the most, turn into some kind of mutant zombie from outer space-Paddling fiend. Perhaps. Well tally ho and pip pip, lets get on with the bloddy thing!
I. Know your paddles.
No doubt you have revived countless teammates, and if you havent your crazy. Basically most people may have gotten a paddle kill accidentaly, or zapped some mad fool sniper. This is good, you have at least gotten a taste for the Paddles, even if you prefer the knife as your partner. Im here to show you just how fun Paddling can be.
Paddles have a much larger radius of electric death, compared to the knifey-steel kind of death the knife has. This means that while your insane enemy is coming to knife you, with a bit of practice, you can zap him meters in front of you! The range seems to be about 1 meter, and about half a meter across. The biggest
drawback to the paddle sis the recharge time, if you dont get the guy the first time, it can be difficult to recharge and zap him again, unless he's a complete idiot and doesnt notice you. Once i zapped a guy 4 times before it killed him, i was literally standing on top of him when i killed him.
So basically, Paddles range is about 1 meter in front of you, and half a meter across and lasts for just under a second! Remember that, because its a big fuck off advantage compared to the knife, which have to be right next to the blighter.
II. Places of Paddling.
Knowing when and where to strike with the paddles is a big advantage. The best spots are spawn points that are very close, like the Hideout on Warlord or convoy at Ghost Town. OF course, any place where the enemy is is good for paddling, but you preferably want them unawares and laying down. But, there is an even bigger thrill, Paddling people head on. Ho ho ho, yes, that is what the career Paddler wants to get good at.
So in review: Look for tight areas, like alleyways at Karkand, convoy at Ghost Town, just about all spawns at Warlord, and places where people are usually present. Roofs are great too, watch for claymores though!
III. How to Paddle properely.
Timing is essential with Paddling, a moving target can be sometimes impossible to zap, othertimes you'll get him randomly, remember, alot of moving Paddling is luck, even i know that. A good thing to learn is that you can DRAG the Paddles abit when you use them, you have to be quick though, it will only work if your just off the target, but it does work!
Sometimes, like the knife, the Paddles just wont work. This can be very annoying, i remember one time i was INSIDE a guy, Paddled, and nothing. 98% of the time they will work, sometimes they will overcompensate and get a guy form 3 meters away. This is good. The Paddles can get blocked easily, bushes offer some kind of amazing field of resistance. IF this happens, get up right close and scare the Bejesus outta them.
A very good stratagem is to lure a person round a corner, and use the paddles just before he comes round it, it will get him all the time, the lenght of the shock seems to be around a second.
In review: Timing is what on the move Paddling is all about, learn to drag the Paddles abit when zapping, bushes offer resistance and they sometimes just wont work.

Where to aim and predicting when to Paddle.
Lag will and does affect if your going to kill someone with the Paddles, i play on about 40-50 ping all the time, so lag plays a small part, but it isnt really crazy. The place to aim with paddles is pretty much the torso area, in fact anywhere should kill them, but the chest has a much bigger surface area, so you'll be more likely to zap 'em if you aim there. Knowing when to Paddle is something you will have to learn yourself, but ive given you the basics, so test them out next time you play, and figure out just when and where to aim. I usually aim i second in front of a person moving sideways, in other words, the distance the person will travel in a second. That 80% of the time results in a kill, remember that Paddling a moving target is hard, its taken me a long time to get it down pat, and evevn now im never 100% sure if im going to make the kill, so test this stuff out yourself, eventually, you'll get good at it!
That seems to be a fairly simple guide, if you want more info or stuff, tell me, and i'll put more into it, or if you have any tips of your own, i can put those at the end.
Thanks for reading, and i hope ive put the Paddling bug on to ya!
