This might be old, but I don't care.

My friend told me that he'd seen this "Learning Video" by Yngvie Malmsteen on a prehistoric VHS-cassette and laughed so much that he couldn't see the TV-set from all the tears.

So I youtubed it, and TRUE! How in the name of f**k can you learn something from this ego-bloating, "Ja, aim da best in dö wööld"-video? Hilarious material.

"So, check out mai vonderfol viideo vere I shov youu dö licks and ze aapeggioos I master completely, ja?"

If you've been playing a while and in a similar style this is pretty easy.

The whole neo-classic genre is using very similar scales and playing styles so once you know the basic tools you can get inspired and whatnot by these vids.

But if you're just starting out, no.

Yngwie (despite his antics and suprisingly poor accent) is the real thing though.

EDIT: Watched the whole thing through and except example 7 he DO play all the licks slow as well. What's the problem?

Damn.. I would have posted this in D&ST if I wanted an answer like that..

But you are right, he is the real deal. But the video, it's hilarious! The way he plays a thing slowly once, then proceeds to "speed tings ap a bit, ja?" by showing off! Love it!

..Yngvie, how godlike his guitar skills, is a tool in my book.
I mean, he's good, real good! But.. ..well..

You should start easy, doing the BOB Ross learning video's for painting, And his haircut is way cooler!!
