Man i see videos of people wiht snipers on Karkand pickin eneimies off like cake and getting loads o' kills. I have the unlocked snip rifle the M24 i think. I frkkin aim the thing right at the guy and fire like 3 shots into him and nothing happens. i have like 20 kills with snipers. that is really bad. I think somehting is messed up witht the aiming but coud someone help me with this???? gah i hate it!!!!!!!!!
well first of all the M24 is not the sniper unlocck the M95 is and if ya wanna be a good sniper then u have 2 have patience and line up a head shot. 2 shots in a persons chest with a M24, or M95 will kill them, and if ya can only hit them once u will probably get a kill damage assit
wow really if u really hit them 3 times they whould die 2 kills some one no matter were u hit them practice (fav kit sniper) Sgt.Austin
i saw somwhere on these forums where the next patch is "supposed" to fix several acurracy issues including sniper. so maybe it will get better.
fire once in the chest, pull out the pistol, works for me
this game isnt like counterstrike where you need little to no skill to kill someone with a sniper rifle. is it unrealistic? probably. does it make the game more enjoyable? yes.
sniper is probably the kit that requires the most skill to be effective with. in order to be effective, line up your target, anticipate, be patient, and fire when the opportunity is right. don't fire at sprinting targets as youll find youre only wasting your shot. instead, wait until your target starts walking, crouching, or goes prone, then aim for the head. i recommend using the m24 as it is deadly accurate and deals the same damage as the m95 unlock.
just practice. youll get better with time.

stay away from the M95 for a while, that's my opinion. I think its a little less accurate than the M24. If you're having trouble hitting people, then stick w/ the M24. The snipe/pistol combo works well when they're short range, but remember bullet lag and bullet drop. So unless the target is staying perfectly still, shoot a little (and by a little I mean A LITTLE) bit in front of him, and don't aim for the head on a moving target, cuz then you're just asking to miss. There are probably plenty of sniper tutorials, but this is what works for me.

Got my vet badge last night with it, but I find it most useful in the obscure locations where nobody really expects you to be sniping from (the APC on karkand entrance). At that kind of range it's brilliant.
One thing to better your sniper stats is to be aware that once you fire your rifle is likely to attract attention of nearby infantry so don't shoot until you actually have the shot.
Another thing that might help you is that if you know you've been spotted then back away leaving a claymore in your original position.

I started playing as Sniper when I got the game which was a really bad move, coming from CS:S the aiming, damage accuracy etc etc etc was so different that I had a K/D of like 0.5!!
The last week or so I have come back to the sniper now that I have learnt how to shoot properly (thank you G36's)
Now I usually get scores of like 20 Kills to 8 Deaths as Sniper. (probably 10 from sniper 6 from Pistol rushing and 4 from Claymores) Most of the deaths are at the beginning of the round trying to find a decent place to camp.
As a good sniper you can really improve your K/D ratio and your pistol/knife ratings.
Just remember the golden rules. Stationary targes: AIM FOR THE HEAD, Moving targets: Hit the chest then pistol rush them.
Always claymore your flanks (unless your team is close by)
Always choose staying hidden over a risky shot
Run around with your pistol NOT your rifle drawn
Try to camp in places which balance stealth with a good shot (i.e repeatedly camping cranes might get you 10 quick kills but will also get you killed many times, wheares camping totally hidden can slowly get you 20 kills and 0 deaths
