Ive gotten new comp recently, and the thought occured to me after the comp was up, shit, what am I gonna do about my 636 songs.  So, I find this program that lets me get songs from my ipod to a folder on my comp.  Now, I put the song files in the right location, open Itunes and none of them are there.  I go back to the folder and for some gay fucking reason, I have to DOUBLE CLICK on every damn song to get it into the itunes window.  Hooray.  Then, I add about 100 or so songs after getting tired of clicking, I go to add the songs to my Ipod by connecting it.  Well, in the process my ipod got stripped of all it's songs (I dont care about this because they are saved on my comp, and I figured this might happen).  This window comes up telling me the songs cant be added, and it says to restore.  So, I click this RESTORE button and says my internet isnt fucking connected when I have an insanely fast internet.  So after a fucking hour of playing with internet setting, I get it to work.

Ugh, just wanted to type it to relieve the stress.  Itunes needs an official easy fucking method for getting old songs from your old pc back.  This pissed me off.

Now I'm off to the fun path of clicking over 1200 times (double click to add each song) to get my songs back.  YaYZ!

Problem is, the folders are seperated by Artists.  And I would extract the files out into one big directory, but I think this may delete the artist info, etc and I dont want this to happen.

then do it once per folder, and save yourself a lot of clicking

or try moving it all to one folder with 1 or 2 albums and if it stays good, then good. (i'm pretty sure it will, the artist info has nothing to do with the folder, just stuff saved in the .mp3 file. after all, when its on your ipod its all thrown into forty folders called f00-f40

i think you should be able to take a folder and drag and drop and itunes will separate all podcasts, movies, mp3s etc for you, it'll go through all the folders, thats how i did it.

Yes, this is what I did and like I said, when I opened Itunes none of it was in.  I must activate the files by clicking on them to get them to move to Itunes, even though theyre in the right location...

And another funny thing is, I dont have many songs from the same albums

And because LW  (my download source, nobody is going to buy an ipod that holds over 500 songs and actually pay for them ) typically (due to different uploaders) has different source info, the artist info varies even though it could be the same artist, and I never bothered to change them before.  So for example, like I had 4 folders seperated from the same artist because of the fashion it was typed, spelling, etc.

*sigh*...

Case of user error.  You could've simply grabbed the directory where all your songs were and dragged them into the iTunes window.  Everything would've instantly be added.  iTunes does not constantly parse through your music directory; it's expecting you to add and remove files as you will.

Plus, the program to take music off of the iPod is 3rd Party, and anything that happens with that isn't iTunes' fault.

just a suggestion to maybe alleviate a future headache.

get a crossover cable and configure both computers in a network and just dump one HD to the other.

Mmm..kay..anyway on the itunes DO NOT DOWNLOAD 7.2 or any update from iTunes, because according to a research here in the Netherlands, the new itunes will completely kill your iPod, there were people that updated iTunes, connected there iPod, it died, and apple denies any sort of involvement..bunch of fuckers..
