The second position in the walkers - AA or armor?

I was just wondering about the second position in the walkers.

Since you can fire aircraft tracking EMP-missiles, do the kills count as armor or AA?
I guess they still count as armor since I'm pretty sure I've had more than 10 kills IAR and I still haven't got my "Clear Skies Pin".

Same here. It was a conquest map with out any aircraft too.

Yeah I don't think I've ever gotten any kills with the EMP missiles...
(The pilots always bail)

AA and hey for EVERYONE that ever gets into my mech on that GUN... STOP SHOOTING AT INFANTRY I CANT SEE A FUCKING THING WHEN YOU SHOOT!!!! look into the sky and maybe around a bit but concentrate on those juicy full transports and gunships not infantry....it just makes my life more difficult.

If you just hit them with EMPs then you won't get any kills as you didn't damage them, you just disabled them.

However, if you hit them a little bit before they crash, you will get credit for it. The only thing I don't like about the top gunner position is that the guns overheat very quickly, and you have to burst all the time instead of sending a good stream of death at the aircraft.

So true. Pain in the ass when I've locked on, and all I see is five deaths like "DumbEnemy is no more."
it counts the EM missile as a hit, it should count as a kill.

True, but then you aren't force to shoot any other projectiles then. I think this is better, because it helps you learn to use some uber leading skills to actually kill something.

The AA emplacements actually have a long time heat threshold. I guess they gimped the Walker's AA guns to prevent it from being an uber infantry killer and to give the fliers a chance to take you out.

Actually, if the transport/gunship is still EMP'd when it hits the ground, you get the kill credit for it. Almost all my kills in the ground based AA turret are from timing the EMP missiles to cause gunships/transports to crash.
