At what point did something "click", turning you into the player you are today?

I'm curious to know how naturally this came to everyone, especially those of you out there with incredible stats. Taking into account all online play - i.e. including all your accounts (even that noob one you try to forget) - how long did it take you to become the player you are now?

I know that for me, at around 200 hours, something clicked and I suddenly started becoming a decent player. Up until then I was the spastic who crashed the full blackhawk. Then, something happened, my ratios began to climb, and the game became infinitely more enjoyable.

Anyway; share your thoughts on what turned you/ when you turned from the noob you were into the god you are today!

When i reached first sargeant. Ive always been a console person really but i used to play UT quite alot online. I sucked coz my pc was shit basically but i got the hang of it eventually.

That was atleast 4 years ago though and since then i never played a pc game untill BF2. So i had to adapt again.

Everyones a noob at some point. No one is born 1337.

One doesn't "flourish" in Battlefield 2. One "flourishes" if one stops playing Battlefield 2.

It's not like it's hard. I was pretty damn 1337 at Black Hawk Down when this game came out and as I slowly phased it into my computer gaming repertoire, I also brought my experience from 1942 and Vietnam out here. So I was fairly well off when first starting.

I've always been a pretty good FPS player, online or otherwise.  But even good players on foot get owned by vehicles.  The big "click" for me was getting attack choppers down.  Now I have my expert heli, global KD over 2 - feel like I've been a pretty decent player for a long time now.  But if you look at my history, my KD climbed steadily immediately so what can I say?  I'm a GAMER.  It's comes natural.

I ticked the "forever - I still suck balls" box. Why? Because it's true. I may be the absolute worst/ least accurate / lowest scoring player in the whole history of th eearth, but I have a great laugh and that's all I care about. I took somebody's advice and started playing more with really good players, and I'm learning But sad to say, I am crap. I've come to accept it

I became a player like I am now when I unlocked the L85A1 and PKM. Without them I'd still be shooting with M16 or SAW and have a 0.3 KDR. I didn't stop using L85A1 even when I unlocked G36E and I didn't stop using PKM when they nerfed it.

If you mean by flourish you mean you beat the other players by 20, 30 points, then that took about 120hours.

I was shite for ages, i had 512mb RAM and a fx5500 128mb = 15fps. Anyway when i upgraded my k/d went from 0.6 to 1 quickly and has kept rising, up to about 1.7 now. I'd say about 200-300hrs.

After I realized this wasn't Halo, I got alot better!

Seriously, it took about 50 hours to get decent, about 150 to get good, and by approx 300 hours to gain the respect of my peers and earn the fear of my enemies.  I still may not be the best, but I am most certainly stomping around somewhere near the top of the food chain.
