You got me. I was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Not quite as shameful (jk!) as England but still in the UK. Fully ethnically Irish though - all four grandparents. You know how us Irish like to migrate and sponge off other countries? Well my grandparents respectively fucked off to Glasgow and London, only to return to the Republic a quarter of a century later (although my scottish-based ones didn't). Born in Glasgow and lived in Glasgow approximately TWO WHOLE MONTHS!!! Raised in rural Gaeltacht Donegal in the Republic, university and subsequent professional life in Dublin. Fully Irish in all but birthplace.
It pains me to think the country of my birth is still not a Republic. Someday maybe.
