Right, first off, the server IS anything goes...with the exception of hacking, cheating, glitching and TK for vehicle. ALL of those will get you banned instantly. At the time of YOUR ban seat switching in a helo was considered by myself to be exploiting, hence bannable. HOWEVER, after several conversations with my admins on the subject PLUS posting a poll on the EA UK forums it was decided to lift the seat switching rule and instead encourage players to take a gunner up with them.
What you also fail to mention in your post is the fact that you emailed us and I replied. Just for interest purposes, I'll copy those emails below:
The reason for this is that it is widely considering that "seat switching" is classed as exploiting game mechanics to provide an unfair advantage over fellow players.
To be fair, opinion is wide and varied on this matter and there seems to be no definitive ruling from EA / DICE with regards to seat switching in a helo.
The reason we class it as exploiting is any AA that is in the process of locking on will have that lock broken when the player switches to another seat in the chopper. The lock then has to recycle for a few seconds to lock back on. Obviously if someone has switched to the gunners seat then they have to switch back to the pilots seat as well unless they want to stuff the helo into the nearest piece of turf! So that’s not once, but twice, that the lock is broken. Now some players, not all, go solo in a chopper and switch seats with the sole intention of exploiting this particular game mechanic, hence we outlawed it on both our servers under the wider veil of "exploiting"
At the moment there is some discussion amongst the admins as to whether or not seat switching is considered as exploit and should the ruling be changed then any persons banned from the servers for it WILL have the ban removed immediately.
My apologies for the lack of a warning but as you can possibly appreciate, it can sometimes be a bit of a mare adminning a server and the admin on at the time may or may not issue a warning for an offence that is considered an exploit.
Now if it helps, I've started a poll on the EA UK forums to see what the wider BF2 community think. In the absence of any ruling from EA I will abide by what the rest of the community thinks. Obviously it may take a few days for this so I would ask for your patience.
Kind Regards
Rayne

hey my username is LUV-NIC89 and i was just on your special forces server, now it said in the name anything goes right? well i was against a chopper and i used the tv on it and i got banned for that? Do you not think thats a little chidlish banning me for that? when a simple warn would have stopped me? http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7919/screen088ua1.jpg
Now what I personally dislike is players coming on forums and dissing servers, especially when they only supply half a story. THAT to me, and probably a few others, is not only childish, immature and tantamount to throwing one's dummy out the cot, but is also bloody rude! The ban in this case was made at the time with the best of intentions, and has since been lifted due to the results of the aforementioned poll, which I'm assuming you didn't bother to follow up on?
As far as I'm concerned, end of story.
