i switched from a CRT to a Dell LCD widescreen.....i set the BF2 shortcut command to +fullscreen1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050, and i set the resolution in the video.con files (both in 0001 and default folders) to 1280x1024@60Hz.........now my question is, what resolution will the game be running when i start?  1680x1050? or 1280x1024 stretched to 1680x1050?

(i couldnt set the video.con resolution to 1680x1050@60hz....otherwise BF2 will crash to desktop right after i click on the BF2 game icon)

What did you do that for?

If you use that shortcut (and put the defaults back in video.con) then it should load at 1680x1050 resolution.  The text might look a bit skewed at that res, mine does at 1920x1200.  If you are not getting it then check your vid card can do odd resolutions, update drivers if not.

Also your montor should control stretching, I can turn mine off , say the games in 1600x1200 and I switch off auto scaling I get 2 black bars down the side with the 1600x1200 part in the middle, turn it on again and it fills the screen again.  Yes it will be a bit stretched that way, but using shortcuts crops a strip off top and bottom to make it fit better, no biggie for ground pounders but not so good if you plane whore.
