Do you have onboard video? If so, try pulling out your video card and booting to onboard video. Then, replace the video card and try booting up again. Maybe the driver just got hosed or something.

if your PC sounds like it's turning on normally but just has no picture it could be RAM related problem

Well, you could try testing your ram, google memtest86 and run it.

Can you tell if your computer booted or not? Test your monitor on your sisters computer?

Some of you need to learn how to read. Half of these suggestions he's already tried, or just make no sense.

lxcpikiman: So, you turn your PC on, and nothing appears on the screen AT ALL? If so, it's definately not hard-drive related.

Do you hear any beeps? If not, take the video card out completely and turn the computer on. Do you hear any beeps now? If not, take the RAM out and turn it on...hear any beeps now? If not, it could mean your motherboard is screwed.

Try re-arranging your RAM. For example, if you have two sticks, take one stick out and move the one stick in all the DIMM's. Then try the other stick, etc. Try your sister's RAM (if it's compatible).

If that doesn't work, try a different power supply.

And if that doesn't work, I'd have to say it's time to start motherboard shopping, or maybe CPU shopping. If either is compatible with your sister's system, test them out and see what the culprit is.

Were you doing any form of overclocking, if so you might want to reset your CMOS by taking the battery out of your mobo for 30 seconds or pushing the reset button if you have one (on the mobo). Also check that ALL cables are seated correctly.

no, the hard drive is permanent storage. only the data stores in the ram will go.
