Hello. Recently I had a 1Gb stick of Corsair XMS ram go bad on me. About a week before a friend of mine had a stick of ram go bad - different brand. This week another friend had one of his Corsair sticks die on him. I am just curious if anyone else has had any issues lately. Symptoms include blue screen on bootup and when we've all attempted to reinstall windows with the bad ram stick installed, the load fails to load certain files before the actual install starts. Take the bad stick out and Windows installs no problem. I wonder if there is a windows update, or some other app causing ram to crap out. Maybe it's from hours and hours of BF2 gaming. It's just strange its all at once.
Try chucking your computer against the wall
Well it wouldn't be windows causing it because windows XP can support up to 4GB of ram and any kind of ram. Its your motherboard limitations that would most likely be causing you problems. Most motherboards will only accept ram placed into certain slots like slot 1/slot 3 or slot 2/slot 4. You can also read in you motherboard manual or on the manufacturers website about how much physical ram can be place on the motherboard at one time.
I don't think you understand... in my case I have 2 sticks that are exactly the same. One crapped out. If I have the bad stick in, I can't boot at all, no matter which slot it's in. With the other stick everything works just fine. I had also used my system for about a year without issues with my ram and then all of a sudden one craps out around the same time other people I know are having their ram crap out. - It just seems strange that myself and 2 other people I know all have a stick of RAM die on them right around the same time.

Seems like a funny concidence, but it could happen. To make sure it is indeed the RAM at fault and not something else like software get Memtest86. Install it to a floppy or bootable CD(there's versions for both) and run it on the suspect RAM for 8 hours or better.
