Hmm i just got a 2142 CTD, is it because of teh new freaking nvidia drivers? I just rolled back to 7.7.7.7
that is normal 2142. its more unstable than bf2 1.3
Not for me. I got more CTDs and CIs in 1.3. Hopefully they fix it in the patch thoughKamikaze17 wrote:

ditto; I get crashes very infrequently compared to 1.3
i cant count on both hands how many times i have had a ctd and i have had 2 system crashes aswell. its pretty annoying when im trying to get badges that require time.

The best ( seem the most stable ) Drivers at the moment are 91.47

Yep, will be rolling back to them tonight, they new ones just seem to eat fps.
yup its one of my favorite maps too.... its weird though if whatever server i am on changes to that map it loads fine (usually) but almost every single time i try and connect to that map right when i start 2142 9/10 it crashes half way through loadinggene_pool wrote:

I have a Ati Radeon X800
drivers version 8.291.0.0
had only a few CTDs in 2142 or in BF2 1.3 version.
There has been talk about a certain update for windows causing problems. Cant remember if it was related to CTDs. I remember instaling a fix for that patch. You can search the forums for info. Also try using the pbsetup to manualy update PB.
Edit: Its the update KB917422 thats apperently causing problems to some applications.
You can go to "Control Panel", than "Software" and than tick the box "Show Updates". Than scroll down and look for that one. If you have it installed than you need to instal a fix, go to

I uninstalled 93.71, reinstalled using my driver cd, is it the best way to remove 93.71 instead of just rolling back?
I'm pretty sure some of the more savvy PC geeks here will tell you that rolling back drivers is the root of all evil and that you should never use it, and they're probably right. If you've uninstalled you drivers and got no issues and seen an improvement I would say there's nothign wrong with doing that.Ayumiz wrote:

Does anyone wanna tell me why you shouldn't roll back drivers?
Btw drivers are programs stuck in your HDD so that ur vid card can use it right?
I would have to disagree Ive only ever got 1-3 since its release.Kamikaze17 wrote:

on average i get 2 a day
CTD a few times, no more than BF2 1.4 does - It's just one of those things you get used to which slowly eats away at your will to play the game in the long run.
ah crap, im about to get a new 7600GTpsycokiller05 wrote:

I have a Pentium 4 and 2 gigs of RAM
I hope I don't have any problems.
Ive also read that if you changed you vides setting bunch of times, causing shaders to be optimized few times, it can give you some problems. So if you have been testing diferent video settings to see whats the best combination for your PC, when you decide on one, you should exit BF2142 and delete all the shaders and than start the game and let it "optimize" again.
shadeers are in the cash directory:

edit: This trick is used to increase performance of the game but who knows....
