I often see a gray bar below some of my medals. It moves from one to another on different visits to the site. Could someone enlighten me as to what it means?

it shows you which awards you are currently available to get.
OK But it is not showing all the badges that I am available to get. I have 5 gold badges that dont have the gray bar and most of the rest are silver badges but not all the silver badges have the gray bars.
It means that you have passed the time requirement
^you are able to get them, you passed them time req (like tuppie said) and you only need the In A Round Req
those are ghost awards ... you GOT them but you dont Have them :lol
