Ok, I recently built my new RIG all of my games play SMOOTH as well on all max settings. I installed FRAPS last night and decided to check my FPS in BF2, fraps was reporting a SOLID 100 FPS, I was pretty skeptical about this, I wanted to see if this is uncommon for most ppl in BF2?

I get about 80 on max settings.
i get no more than 40 fps on low settings
yeah, i get 100 fps solid on my opty/1900xt.
EDIT: apparently fraps wont show anything higher than 100 for bf2. might be my pc though. even when i put all my settings to low and increased all clocks, it was still stuck on 100fps

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
100FPS is about right dude, max settings at 1280x1024 for me

You could just use the games fps info.
Type renderer.drawfps 1 in the console and it'll display two numbers in the top left corner. The first is your fps.

when you look at the integrated counter in bf2 (you activate it via the console) it also maxes out at 100. maybe bf2 is software limited to 100 fps. there is however a command with which you can change the max fps. not sure if this will allow you to push your fps over 100. i never tried it. the commands should be in the console wiki here on bf2smisconfiguration wrote:

i get 1-3 on low settings my computer sucks so i uninstalled it, the clips were lagging like #%&ยค&/# when i should watch them

Hmmmm, good point.
100FPS isnt the max for BF2, Fraps doesnt stop at 100FPS, BF2 software isnt limited to 100FPS
you have to unlock your FRAMERATES in the Command Console, I, however, do not know the command, I just know the game freshly installed LOCKs framerates
so search the forums, or if someone know's the command, post it peace

I have an Intel c2d 6400(2.72GHz) , 1 gig of ram, and a 7900GT
I have the game on all high settings and on a cold start-up it takes me about 90% of the chinese loading theme to load a whole map.
This normal?

depends what your HDD's are...if you have RAID, yes. should take about 1/2 of the load music time...but it does take considerably longer on a cold-start to load a map...a good minute more for me.

Just another point, if you stay on the server it takes stupidly less time to load the next map. Like I'm in before the halfway mark.
If you go onto another server, takes twice as long again, typical lol
