ok, i am new to bf2:sf and i would like to know if the L96A1 is able to shoot out a pilot in an airplane for heli? is so i will get it but if not then i will get something else.

You can't use the L96A1 in special forces. But no, it won't shoot through cockpit glass. Thats only the M95.

oh ok. when i was playing on my team before i had SF my friend was like get sf and get this gun. its way better than the other sniper.
Only the barrett aka M95 can shoot out pilots and such. However, the L96A1 sniper rifle is a headshot magnet. M24 is also a really good sniper rifle.

@ topic - If you got SF just to use the 196A1, mistake, its not even in there. SF is still worth the buy, and so is unlocking the L96, but u can only use it in vanilla.
only M95 can do that.. l96 cannot
