aren't northbridge coolers, supposed to cool, the northbridge, not the cards..?
Um? Yes? Who said anything about cooling the cards? Its just that the northbridge is between the cards on my mobo, so it gets all the hot exaust air.

I have the Exact same mobo, and if you read about this very fan anywhere, you should know, this fan is PRONE to failure and was a recall issue. no matter what, change this fan. mine hasnt failed luckily, but I read on newegg.com in the reviews for this board, this fan fails constantly.
SIDE NOTE: WOW! you got your SATA to work eh?! this mobo sucks, my SATA ports were DOA.
This is the updated fan, the first was prone to failure, but this one is supposedly better. Still doesn't cool worth a damn.
Which SATA do you mean? There are the Silicon Image SATA RAID ports (red) which I am using, and the standard Nvidia ports (black). Both sets I have got working fine. Rember to install the drives using the ports from the bottom up, right to left. Kinda strange, but all of mine work fine. Maybe its you HDD. I'm currently using 2 Segate SATA2 320Gb 16Mb 7200RPM Barracuda's in RAID 0 witht he Silicon Image controller, Although the Nvidia one worked also.
In RAID 0

Alone

To use either, make sure they are enabled in the BIOS. The Silicon Image ones won't even be picked up by the system unless you make a bootable floppy for when you install windows. It asks you do press a key if you need to install any 3rd party storage drivers.
I love the mobo, with the exception of the northbridge heatsink, very good for OCing. I have my FX-53 over 2.8Ghz on air cooling. Won't go higher, runs out of voltage.
I run my system completly on air cooling, so there is quite a bit of airflow. Its jsut that the video cards exaust directly onto the northbridge.
