I thought you had to literally run someone over for it to count as a road kill. I was going for whichever ribbon requires you to have 10 road kills just now, and after I shot someone using the gun in seat #2 of the FAV, the Wheels of Hazard pin immediately popped up. So... WTF? Isn't the wheels of hazard pin just for roadkills? Or maybe it delayed giving it to me until after my NEXT kill, which was with the FAV gun to confuse me?

What exactly is a roadkill? Any definitive source?

Not entirely, you can accumulate roadkills if you shoot a vehicle, and the explosion kills anyone near by, The most common example of this is if you shoot a helo, it catches on fire, they bail out and it explodes, killing them.

I think you can get it by accident without really trying, so play for the other badges and it'll come by some time.

I usually hear *thud* in front of my FAV.   But it is possible in a tank or walker.

That wheels of hazard pin has been a... Excuse the expression, pin in my side. I too need to get that crew service ribbon as well.

I've always found it hard to roadkill people in Bief 2, and I thought i'd have more luck with 2142's FAVs...

More often when trying to aquire the wheels of hazard pin, I end up getting the explosive efficiency pin.

I've been trying too, to no avail. The most I got was 3.

In BF2, it was a lot easier IMO. Streets were wide, infantry actually walked from flag to flag. In 2142, it's all heavy forest or rough terrain, or narrow streets that infantry avoid. Not to mention the 500 motion mines sitting at every flag.

A roadkill occurs whenever the kill message says

You[Vehicle]Enemy

So if you

Run someone over with a FAV

You[FAV]Enemy

if you shoot a helicopter, they bail, and it blows on them

You[Enemy Helicopter]Enemy

or if you crash a transport helicopter into a walker or tank or apc or fav or whatever (Sometimes this backfires)

Man, hoqw am I gonna get 10 roadkills in one round for the Crew service ribbon?

I'd hate to have to resort to air transport ramming... But it seems like roadkills are a lor like knife kills for me... And NOTHING urks me more than if I'm about to ram someone, only to have them kill me with a headshot and the empty vehicle runs them over...

Road kills
Road kills are all kills, while using a vehicle type, which are not a direct result of the main weaponry of this vehicle. Going Carmageddon with a jeep, but also the indirect kill is a road kill. The indirect kill is the kill as result of collateral damage that is caused by your vehicles weaponry. For instance you shoot a car with the mounted gun and the car explodes. When this explosion kills an enemy pedestrian by happenstance this is a road kill. For this example: road kill ground defense = 1.

From Wiki.  It is probably the same as BF2.

Spend a whole round on Sidi on a 48 man Titan server driving round in an FAV. Follow enemy transport choppers around then when they land drive right past the side of it as the troops disembark. Splat. Driving round and round the central silo and you're sure to get a few road kills.

ok i have the perfect idea... with this strategy you can get the wheels of hazerd and the explosivse pin... play recon with RDX. put 5 RDX on the front of a CAR run around like mad trying to run over ppl. if you happen to find a walker or tank BOMBS AWAY LADS... blow him to hell... lol i got my Vetren Explosives this way, pluss it was a Titan map and i would RDX the poor guys trying to cap the silos lol... GOOOD LUCK
