US Air Force veteran.  I guess I had a similar specialty - I was a "One and Two Jet Engine Aircraft Crew Chief".  Worked the flight line for a fighter-interceptor squadron.

If you have a basic training period then I would suggest START RUNNING AND GETTING UP EARLY - NOW!
Training school was a blast.  A little more freedom and lost of parties.  My first assignment made my head spin but I finally got into the routine and realized how serious that shit really was - the Pilots life was truly in my hands.  Had a great time and would do it all over again.  Best of luck. stay safe, and have fun.

That's the Army Reserve, right?

If I don't go to ADFA (for RAAF entry), I might go and do the Army Reserve.
