Well after taking microsofts vista test I released its a pile of shit saying that I am ready if I just installed some drivers. Go fuck yourselfs.

A long with vista ultimate I plan on getting one of the 8 Series cards. Add that to my specs *SEE SIG* would you say I can run vista smoothly? I ran the RC client a couple of times and it is rather laggy.

Also will my current rig and future GPU enable me to run games smoothly.

Since some people have trouble reading my signature:

ALIVESATA2-GLAN PCI-E
Athlon 64bit 3800x Dual Core
1026mb of ram x2
GeForce 8800GTS
460w PSU

I agree, your sig is to difficult to read, BUT I will make an effort to squint my eyes .

You will definetley need that 8 series or if u wait ATI's dx10 card as we all know BEFORE you get vista, processor should be ok, and the ram would suffice to run vista.  However, as many of us know, vista is a memory hog on ur machine, therefor 2gb ram is the new 1, soooo to really get smooooooth vista OS satisfaction, get that upgraded to 4+.

Last thing about the graphics card, before any of you go spending your christmas bonous on a card, make sure youve got a monitor to due it justice mmmmmmk .

Stricktly speaking you dont, atm 2 gb will run ANY current software application, high demand games blah blah like 2142 easily.  But Vista is a huge memory 'whore' and on it, you need 2 gb at the very least, so your 2 gb by standards atm is great, but over the next year, you will see 4 gb becoming the new must have.  As you know, computer software and hardware move at a very fast pace, with vista coupled to a dx10 game like alan wake, your 2 gb system will begin to strugle.  Though it is not soley down to size of memory, speed plays a crucial role in it to, provided you got a good pair of ram stick's, it will run fine for the next few months.  Hope you have room for expansion because you WILL need it.

Basically boys and girls, 4gb is the 2 gb of vista.

I'm just wondering what his sig has anything to do with the question at hand.

Anyways you should be fine other than the RAM.  I would suggest upgrading to 2GBs if your going to be play anything games.  Mabey even 3GBs of ram.

He was enquiring as to how well his system could handle vista, his sig has the spec's of the rig.......

N btw MuseSeeker your right, it was easy enough to read, my monitor was set wrong, so if thats why you changed it then by all means put it back, looked better

What microsoft deem vista capable, and ACTUALLY being capable are completley different   By there logic my tired old dell could run it and I know fine well it will blow the thing to kingdom come!

I'm on a dual boot Vista RC1 x64 and xp 32 bit.

The Vista installation on the otherhand is fantastic now. It took some getting going, messing with diff drivers but no i've sorted that out it's running great.

And as for the lag issue some people seem to be experiencing, I'm not getting any

My Spec

2 x Corsair Tx 1GB 3200
2 x 512MB XFX 6800XT PCIE DDT 350
2 x 80G Samsung SATA II 7200/8mb
Foxconn S939 NF4SK8AA-8KRS SLI
AMD Athlon 64 4000+
Arctic 600w PSU
Linksys 54g Wireless Adapter (yes it does work on vista and xp64)

I don't have vista installed on my primary machine due to the fact there was too many driver issues. It may be time to try again.
