What I want to express with this is that you're being close to a CtD but BF2 finally manages to recover, so to say a close-to-crash-to-desktop.
I'm for sure not the only one experiencing this from time to time, neither do I think that I am the only one to suffer from a blackening screen once in a while (first all HUD, then the Textures and eventually everything will be gone, leaving nothing but a black undefined area which all of a sudden evolves to a lovely "You have been killed.").
