Hi all. First-time poster here. I've got to say, the BF2S stat page is a really cool service. I presume it is officially associated with the BF2 developers/servers, so I hope this is the best place to ask my question.
Earlier tonight I had someone claim I was cheating in the Ghost Town map. I've been accused before, but no one has every threatened to contact the servers and have my stats wiped. I didn't know that could even be done and it scares me, hence this post. After 100+ hours of busting my arse, I don't want to have everything canned because I beat one guy up repeatedly.
Now, I freely admit to being a died-in-the-wool CAMPER. My favorite character by far is the sniper, and I've learned how to camp both Ghost Town and Warlord VERY effectively in non-vehicle maps (my preference anyway, since I feel the vehicles are too arcade and unbalanced for the game).
My trick is to sign up as Commander, be a sniper, then get to the roof and mine the stairways or ladder, depending. Once there, I drop supplies to re-arm and heal myself. In the case of the TV Station, unless someone gets a direct head shot on me, I can stay there indefinitely... just keep healing and/or replacing the spent claymores in the stairwell. I don't deny it's a devious thing to do, but I AM a sniper and it is all game-legal equipment and moves.
I've been accused of cheating on several occasions. One being when I killed a sniper in the stairs and witched to his kit, dropped his 2 claymores, then switched back. Yes, I used his claymores. But I also didn't know he had an M95.... which I don't understand why it is the Unlock when it's lame. I can't kill ANYONE with that rifle. I need usually 2 or 3 shots to get the job done, and with the reload time on most rifles other than the SVD there's no way for me to kill people unless they are sitting still and I can get the perfect headshot. Play with me any time and you'll even HEAR the difference in the maps as I go from rapid-fire (SVD) to fire-and-wait (M24, SAS rifle and M95).
In any case, the way the guy was carrying on and commenting back and forth he sounded pretty mad. This was Ghost Town, I was not Commander in that map, but I was a Squad Leader.... and in fact I was educating my squad members on how to play. Where to hide, where to drop claymores, where to look for enemies (i.e. - what spots they will go to to get an angle on you) etc etc. We were holding the Upper North and Upper South flags from the roof of the taller building in between. The MAIN battle was raging between all the other mainland flags and just this one guy (the accuser) kept coming over to cap flags. Our Cmdr kept running UAV, so we knew when someone was leaving the area, the rest was just waiting for them to walk into the open or to come up a ladder.
I've printed out my current Stat page from here tonight, and I remember the name of my Squad mate who kept healing me and stuck by my side the whole time... well, at least I remember he was from the [GHOST] clan. I don't remember the name of the guy who accused me, I didn't even know people were talking to me until a vote came up against me (which two people voted on). I stayed in the server and played another three or four full maps before leaving, but the other guy left.
Not sure what else I can do to back myself up on this other than to say that I also happen to be an Admin with the GTG Clan (Good Time Gaming). The rest of us are playing on 2142 now. I'm pretty much the only leftover still on BF2 since I won't pony up the bucks for the new game yet. At least in the BF2:SF server, we like No Vehicles, and we rotate Mass Destruction, Surge and Warlord... sometimes also Ghost Town.
What a PITA! I appreciate any advice with this!
