So I've been getting the blue screen for the past week on my PC and now that I was bored I moved my HDD to another computer and checked if I could run it there but I got the same problem as before and god am I happy cause for a while I tought I fucked up my PSU so its good news in a way. But now I have to buy a new HDD and I'm going for a 100 GB for 170$  [yes in Iceland we get 90% taxes] but do I need to install every single thing all over agin? I can install all the games but how do I install my GeFroce 6600 since I dont have the CD for it?

If you have ANY advice that you can give me [if u dont want to tell it here PM me pls] I would be greatful

Anyways thanks for the help guys [too many names to write] that helped me with the problem!

Yeah you need to instal the games and the OS again. The video drivers need to be downloaded and reinstalled, hook it all up and then go to nvidia's website and DL the drivers.

Ooh! Try Acronis True Image
It creates an exact copy of your old hard drive onto your new one. It's pretty easy to use.

You'll need to borrow someone elses computer if you still can't boot to your old one.

Step 1. Take out your old hard drive. Set it's jumper pins to slave.
Step 2. Set your new hard drive's jumpers to master.
Step 3. Hook up both hard drives in their relative positions on an IDE cable (master always at the end position)
Step 4. Boot up your borrowed pc and make sure both hard drives can be seen in My Computer. (If not, go into disk management. [right click on My Computer and select Manage] make sure your new hard drive is set to "active")
Step 5. Install and run Acronis True Image
Step 6. Follow the Acronis wizard's directions and you're done.

I swallowed a lot of lead fishing weights as a child. I thought they would make me weigh more (I was a scronny child) but I just pooped them out

Well I dont get how i can put the drive to ''slave'' and ''master'' and how do I connect them 2 at a time? like one HDD goes to the first connected wire and then the other one to another wire or the same??? :S

Do you have this kind of cable for your HD's? If so, the slave goes in the middle and the master goes at the end. Leave the origional HD on the borrowed computer alone. You still want to boot to that. These should be on a separate IDE cable connected to the motherboard.

You have to change the jumpers at the back of the drive

IDE = Connect both to the same slot on the MB with one flat cable (there should be few connectors in one cable)

SATA = Connect both drives to their own slot on the MB

EDIT: slow

Just a side note: Don't worry about screwing anything up by moving jumpers. It will either show the hard drives under 'My Computer', or it won't. It may take you a few tries before you get the jumpers right. Just make sure the new hard drive is at the end of the cable (I'm still assuming you have IDE cables...)

your old drive is on its way out right? so you seriously need to instal the new drive as primary and format and instal windows fresh, then throw the old one away once you get your files and settings off it.  You are on a hiding to nothing doing anything else.

It depends on if you want to re-install everything or not. If you do it my way, it will be like magic.

It's not hard, just install the new drive and insert the windows cd immediately when you press the power switch, then before it starts installing windows it asks you to format and partition the hard drive then it starts installing windows

I have a feeling you're going to run into some troubles if you don't just image your hard drive over to the new one. You're going to need more than just a windows cd to get back up and running.
