Oman:
- not a lot of infantry combat as there is too much open space without cover between most flags
- imo oman is a almost a strict vehicle map and most people (US or MEC) who don't have the chance to get a tank, APC, chopper or whatever will not participate as infantry in combat
- i think it's a great map if as chopper or bomber pilot you want to kill armour or engage in dogfights
Wake:
- great mix of a map with a slight dominance of J10 in air (only if handled by the right pilots)
- I like to play US side with a couple of my mates and, starting from small island, making a "blitz" and capping one flag after the other. This is only possible if you have a squad/team of 5-6 mates who advance with coordination. Then they are almost unstoppable. Some support from Cobra at times is welcome.
This works out for us about 95% of the time on US side. Some very nice infantry battles with advance/cover can make this map very interesting.
The only thing i disdain on wake are the people rapping the carrier either via arty, chopper or J10. it doesn't take skill to make a stukka dive dropping 2 bombs and getting 10+ kills at times. For me in J10 or chopper, small island (US arty) is the limit for turning around except when i follow an f35 in for the killing stroke. Never rapping the carrier with my J10. That's not fun for me and I suppose for the US side either.
As a sidenote:
Shortest wake round ever for me was like 2-3 minutes with a 20vs20 game: was on US side and for once thought what the heck got into my f35 taxi, dropped off at airfield, capped it while rest of my team got south and north base followed shortly after with beach and north village. PLA was dumb enough to only spawn at the beginning on south/north base (20 people !!!), leaving airfield a ghost town (chopper and J10 still on runways).
