All I can say is that I'm getting a free PS3, so screw your objective analysis I'm hooking it up to my 1080i TV and it'll be perfect, and then once MGS4 comes out I will not be seen for many many days.
Well i don't know about you guys but the good games for the 360 are coming now: Rainbow six vegas, F.E.A.R., GoW,NFS:Carbon,assins creed,halo3,halo wars,C&C3,CoD3,Crackdown,GTA4,Lost Planet,Splinter cell DA and there are more. But you guys are all crazy about the specs on the xbox360 and PS3 well you guys should stop whining about, no this is better, no this and blah blah blah blah and just choose the console you want based on the games being released on that particular console, as for me i think xbox360 has better games and thats why i chose it.

having just got GoW on the 360, an it being one of the best games i have ever played, the graphics are awesome, great gameplay, the only trouble is you can really tell that the xbox is working its bollocks off to run that game, i dont think you are going to see a game with the same sort of graphics on the 360 for sometime.
Now alot of people out there are comparing GoW with Resistance fall of man on the PS3, the graphics are the same but GoW beats it hand down because of the game play. Because of this alot of fan boys are out there saying that the 360 is far better than the PS3 <-- WTF
in my mind if a console has just come out and a RELEASE game can pump out the same visuals as a game thats had an extra year in development, then fuck me i cant wait to see what the games will be like in a years time on the PS3.
The next thing is you have all this shit about 1080p/i, now the PS3 is meant to have this straight out of the box. and MS have just updated the 360 to have this. For people who have a HDTV that can pump out these sort of visuals this is great news and myself being one of those people i was excited when i downloaded my update for my 360 set it all to 1080i/p and lets look at the magic. Well fuck all happened infact the screen wouldn't display and the tv said no image was being received.
i checked the internet and low and behold to have this so called TRUEHD you need hdmi 1.3 cables. now this is great if your a PS3 owner because you get hdmi slots built in, but MS decided against this and you have to stick with component cables thus only allowing you to have a resolution at 720. so there is no fucking point in updating the 360 to 1080p/i because it wont work!

The next think is the blu-ray/hd-dvd war. PS3= blu-ray 360 = hddvd.
now it gets tricky, who will win????
to tell you the truth i dont care there both far better than dvd, but once again alot of the fan boys out there say that the HDdrive for the 360 is great, well from the reviews i have read they wouldnt agree with that, the 360 hddrive doesn't stand up to any of the stand alone hd players, for a couple of reasons, one of them is the fact that the 360 doesnt have hdmi so you cant get the best picture and sound quality and the next thing is the fact that its an add-on apparently you lose alot of quality because your running the signal from one box to another box and then out to your tv! To me this sounds shit and i wouldnt touch this piece Of shit add on IMO!!!
Now i dint have a clue about the PS3 blue-ray playback but if you take the 2 flaws from the 360 add on it seems to me that the PS3 might do quite well in the movie play back area. (if anyone has played a blue-ray film in a PS3 please tell me what it was like, and if you had any problems setting the 7.1 surround sound)
after reading alto of the reviews out there, i will definatly trying to get hold of a PS3 when the machine comes out over here.(Europe) and i will probably get rid of the 360 as the only other game i am looking forward to is halo3 just so i can finish the series off!

Yeah the PS3 has those games, but to say the 360 only has 2 worthy games so far is pretty opinionated, which is what is wrong with these arguments. Rarely (rarely, not never) does anyone display some objectivity above opinion.
GRAW, TDU, COD2/3, MOH Airborne...hell, even BF2:MC isn't too shabby on the system in my opinion. Give the developers some time with the PS3 to figure everything out before counting the system itself out. As it is now there is probably no difference between COD3 on 360 or PS3.
And don't compare HD DVD to Blu Ray, seeing as the 360 doesn't make games on HD DVD anyway (they have said they aren't going to, either, but since the big Xbox live update they did say games were going to be able to do 1080p, so I'm willing to admit I could be wrong on that point).
edit: In response to Mavrick's HD problems, 1080i has always worked on the 360, and I haven't looked into the 1080p aspect, and haven't had any problems (let it update on it's own and haven't looked at the settings).
And while I don't have a lot of faith in Nintendo, I'll be trying out the Wii to see how it is anyway cause you never know.

I will have to check my console settings to see if it put 1080p on there, but since my TV can't do 1080p it's either downscaling it, which I doubt it can do, or just not enabled as you'd think I would get some sort of visual problems if the vid signal was being sent to the TV in 1080p.
I seem to recall hearing something about needing an HDMI cable for true 1080p, I think the component vid cables are upscaling the signal to 1080p which probably isn't as good, but it'll most likely be hard to see the difference.
well hopefully i am doing something wrong with my tv because i cant get the machine to play in 1080p the screen just goes blank!

As for the PS3, in no more than a year the developers will be putting out some real impressive stuff if you ask me. Hopefully the 360 keeps producing some sweet stuff too, seeing as I own one.

Yeah, but unless you're on the bandwagon for HD DVD movies (my opinion on the matter is that it's jumping the gun to support either) why would you bother with the HD DVD drive anyway? It isn't used for games and isn't necessary to use the system. The PS3 is a good deal in terms of a Blu Ray player in that light, and it was their choice to use it for their games.
