1. How do I defrag? I have been told I should do it because BF2142 started CTDing alot a few days ago with seemingly no cause.

2. I have a 0 byte "file" saved to the desktop and whenever I try to delete it it says it's being used by another user, how do I get rid of it?

Start-->Programs-->Accessories-->System Tools-->Defrag

And to delete the file in question, boot into safe mode by pressing F8 during startup.

To Defrag,

Open My Comp, Right click on Drive Name, > Propeties > tools Tab and click defrag.

go to control panel then security and mait. then rearrange items on hard disk should work i cant help with the second one maybe some one else

Go to Start > Run > cmd.exe

C:\>defrag

oooh! and for that file, HijackThis has a DeleteOnBoot thinger in Misc.

To delete the file you could try to open a command prompt, navigate to (most probably) c:\documents and settings\<youraccountname>\desktop\ and delete the file with del <filename>

thats becuase you have to specify what drive you want to defrag
command FOR THE RUN BOX : "defrag.exe C:"
