Recording your console footage

For those of you who have some experience doing this (Console Recording) what kind of hardware/software do you use. I am using a simple USB adapter right now (I do not want to sacrifice a PCI slot) but I am having a hard time recording the audio with it. I am thinking I probably need to re-enable my on board sound but am unsure.

Here is something I made playing Gears of War but since my sound was jacked up I had to add my own soundtrack.

I am just curious if any of you have had experience or suggestions in this.

^^ No it's a very simple cable. It's has S video inputs on one end and USB on the other. I am going to see if i can find it online to show you.

Well are you unsure that you can plug your XBox 360's audio jack into your X-Fi? I read somewhere that in the contents of the X-Fi (models with the XRAM) contains a Line In adapter to 1/4 inch...
Could you just record the audio track separate, since you don't have (best guess) on the USB adapter?

^^ I actually tried that and I could hear some of the audio (barely) but there was a bunch of static over it.

Someone else mentioned that product and it does look cool. I'll have to price it. The way I am trying now cost me about 35 usd's.

I did and using it generated some horrible noise. I should be able to just select onboard sound and use it but.. negative.
