ok, so i've been playing a lot of RtJ infantry only, lately.  i've seen a lot of disorganization, guys trying to 1 vs. the world in order to progress through the map.  i thought i would lay down a proposed strategy for the USMC to attack and progress through the map.

Red lines: USMC Snipers, long-range rifles
Black lines: USMC Support, Medics, Assault
Tangerine: MEC players (Tangos)

The red lines (with arrows attached) is suppressing fire.  These should be snipers or other long-range rifles.  They need to lay down suppressing fire for the other weapon classes to advance.

Black lines (with arrows): these are routes for support, medic, and assault weap kits to advance.  they can only advance if the red line (sniper kits) are successful in knocking down tangos.

Tangerine X's: these are MEC players (Tango's).  these have to be suppressed by the USMC sniper and long-range rifle classes.  the remainder have to be eliminated by the USMC support classes as they progress through the map.

So your message is that the snipers should cover the other classes? Most of us know this, but its is, as you say, very rarely practiced in ranked servers.

Its a good post, but...

If you want to help people with an attack scenario, then you should outline one for attacking one base.

For example. USMC attacking from the Lake spawn to the Market spawn.

The market spawn is a good one to hold because it gets the USMC close to the MEC main, and it makes it alot harder for the MEC's to lock down the round. I always go for that one after the Lake has been taken, even if it isn't an IO server.

this map sucks in IO, MEC always win in that case
the US can win only if the MEC team REALLY sucks a lot!

nah ive had plenty of wins as usmc on io, it just takes a squad to rush as far forward to the outpost as possible, and provide tons of covering fire for more troops to move in

The secret is in not being pushed back to the own base. As soon as the USMC can get a foothold at the rock formation west to the Outpost, the Mec have pretty hard work defending the Outpost. If they are nonetheless pushing forward to the main base, they eventually will fall. Once in the city, a superior USMC team can basically capture everything.

WRONG.

if people not tryed to choose the sniper kit always.
then you have 25 snipers and 7 other kits WTF.

the only way to win a war I presume

I have a better idea. No one on USMC play sniper at all because that's why they lose. Everyone grow some balls and charge down the flags as medics with a few support players to supply the nades. That's how you win. Fuck snipers.

The problem with your strat is that according to the map, the MEC team is just there for the killing. In a perfect world on a perfect pub that strat would work. But in a real server the other team is full of snipers, and they're aiming for your snipers. So your cover is shot. It's a game, the MEC team knows the USMC team is coming so there's no element of surprise. All you need to win as USMC on that map is a commander who isn't a complete moron, and squad leaders that know what they're doing, and a lot of medics.

Here's a tactic I prefer:

I've made it from USMC uncap to market to cap it by myself many times. You don't even need a team that's all that good, just a few people that want to win. Obviously you can't always get to the fountain all that easily, but more often than not if you have at least three people one can storm through. None of this will work if you join a server where everyone has a deathmatch mentality about it and just throws nades and snipes, though.

edit: their/they're mistake. doh.

When I am sniping on Jalalalabad as USMC, I will first take out the peeps in the LMG's if there is anyone there.  Next, I will look for snipers that are prone and in a position to take out peeps on my team running for a flag, albeit, for Junkyard or Fountain.  Lastly, I will pick off the MEC team running up to our location at our spawn and/or snipers again.  Of course, it is not like that everytime.  Some times, I have to do number 3 first because the MEC team can surround you quickly if they are well organized.

Throw the assault team in.  While snipers lay down and take pot shots, a good assual team can cap a flag and defend it until support teams reach the flag.  Assault grenade launcher has a good range for those that can use it properly and the F2000 is a great weapon for long range assault.

Yep, and that cover point doesn't have many good sniper spots taht are safe.  I nail snipers near the lake flag all day...  Outpost defense is the key for MEC...they block the high pass, the lake pass, and keep people away from the rocks west of outpost.. then keep a squad near the lake flag to prevent spec ops sneaking around via the water way by the boundary.  And this is only if MEC couldn't pin USMC at their base.
