surely you could find something better? but yes it would work, you might need a P/S 2 to USB adapter though if you dont have a P/S 2 port on your comp

I just got a new mouse, and I had to choose between the g5 and the mx518.
G5's got more dpi than the mx, and thats it. Both have in game dpi switch option, both laser, but mx518 has 2 thumb buttons, g5 only 1, and its really handy.
Ive got teamspeak on one button and voip on the other one, and it makes life easier to communicate.
In my opinion, get the mx518.
