2005, First Test: Convicts win by 239 runs, England win series.

2006, First Test: Convicts win by 277 runs, England will win the series...

I'm not too worried just yet.

I am.

We had a proper team back then in form aswell.  Cricket was already buzzing in the UK before the Ashes and it gripped the country.

Vaughan - Missing, (might be back for the last 2 tests, good or bad thing? Cross that bridge when it comes to it)

Simon Jones - Missing, he was crucial last time around.

Harmison - Missing, has been since we won the Ashes.

Hoggard - Cant get the Kookabura ball to swing like our Uk cricket ball does.

Giles - Just back from injury (not even in the same class as Warne, but again who is)

Trescothick - Gone off on one again.

Mcgrath - Stood on the ball and did his ankle in.

Monty n Mahmood to come in, deffo Monty but not Mahmood just yet.

We are now playing vs a Aussie team who are still hurt at loosing and seem to want it more than us.

Our bowling coach now coaches Australia.

We are playing on their patch.  A few Aussies play on our wickets in our conditions but none of ours do.

I dont belive we are a better team now than when we won the Ashes, we've gone downhill since then, if anything Australia have a good look at themselves since then and put things right.  We have 3/4 days to do the same.

I know they won the 1st test last time around and we turned it around but I would be gobsmacked if we did it this time

Once again Bell sucks ass with a bat
IN the ashes last time he scored less than 100 runs total (10 innings)
This time round
got 50 in his first innings + duck 2nd innings
oh well we'll see think Jones is A huge absense for us
yeah give monty a spin

I've never understood how Bell has kept his place in the team.

Bell is in as our own version of a short ass midgeting batting sensation.  The aussies get Ponting, we get bell.

I think he's alright, he's better than piggy Robert Key.

I wouldnt mind Rampakash being there but he's too busy dancing.

I'm sorry. but how is Bell as good as Ricky Ponting?

In the First Test Ponting made over 300, Bell made under 100.
But they are definitely both short and stumpy.

Jestar you have misunderstood me here,I'm not saying Bell is anywhere near as good, just as short.  I was simply making a light hearted comment in the light of dark days for English cricket.

Your apology is fully accepted as I hope mine is.

Its quite funny over here atm, everbody including Ponting is saying how Strayer won the 1st test last time and we all know what happened next.......so.

England went on to win the ashes and sent home the Aussies with their roo tails tucked right up their arses, well................wake the fuck up, smell the fucking coffee, aint going to happen this time.  Our team is fucked, the few who can make a difference are missing, the ones still there who can make a difference wont.  Eng batted  better in the 2nd innings, whoopie fkn doo.  It be fucking hard not too wouldnt it?

The above may look like Im waiting for Eng to loose again, well I am.  That dosent mean I want to for one second though, I would love to shove another lesson in cricketing right up the Aussies arses, why wouldnt I, I am Eng, umm Welsh afterall.  Lets just be realistic here, our hopes are and optimisim are based on, Monty and we batted better 2nd time around.  Is that it? If so, fuck.

England havent played any decent stuff since we beat the Aussies, they havent even come close to it, so why after 4/5 days will they recapture the form they had 18 months ago?  I cant see us bowling Strayer out twice, I cant see our top 5 scoring 70(average) each, we can only bat down to about 6, maybe 7 on a good day.

Freddies the best option as a capt but someone have a word in his fkn ear about field placings.  If Ponting starts hit 4's square of the wicket, stick 2 men there, not just the 1.

Our batting coach has come home now, Matthew Maynard, his Mrs has hurt herself at work, what difference that makes I dont know.

Our hopes I reckon ride on luck, we needs lots and the Aussies have to have none, not just for the 1st session, the 1st innings or even the 1st fucking day.  All 5 days, thats if it lasts that long which I doubt.

Eng if your gonna loose which I reckon you are, at least go down fighting and show us at home and those out there supporting you that at least you wanna win the fkn thing again

I'm sure the English players aren't worried either.

I'm impressed. It was important that England batted for all of the first day and a half. Looks like they will, and make a good total in doing so.

I might be wrong (I've been away on business and didn't follow much of the game today), but I thought I heard someone say that the pitch should play well for the full 5 days. If so, I think it will be a draw unless England can make the Aussies follow on (not bloody likely).

Good to see Collingwood didn't try to smash it out of the ground on the last ball of the day to get his ton. He got out with a stupid shot last time on 96. England need him to keep a level head and they can build a potentially match winning score.

It's a pity England don't have enough good bowlers....

Edit: PS sorry for the long post, I've had a few

Well done Eng but im not going to say congrats for anything as yet.  We've won the 1st day out of 5, do that twice more now and you wont loose but as in any test match to guarantee the win you need to take 20 wickets.  Bat like that again 2moro and we shouldnt loose.  We have to be batting at the end of play though, I'd be wrong to even suggest we are half way there yet.

I think England do have good bowlers
Hoggard is very consistant, but as 1927 posted earlier he can't get the kooka ball to swing.
Jones is an awesome bowler he was very important last time, but he's injured.
Flintoff can't critisise him so far very consistant, takes wickets and causes problems.
Harmison is the only bowler to not perform so far
Giles I my self am never sure of.

Giles wouldnt scare me if I was batting, everyone else would.  I'd look forward to facing him thus, getting 6 balls off as it would be.

Yeah I wasn't saying trying to say all England's bowlers suck or anything, just that ATM that's thier biggest problem on the tour. Australia's bowling line up would be in trouble if they lost a couple to injury I think.
