On another note if such a thing becomes possible I'll be locking my squad more often to prevent some useless faggot from being forced into my squad cos the commander wishes so.
and thats the next freakin stupid thing that should be fixed , 1, 2 and 3 man squads that are locked is stupid. people who do that are part of the problem.
Squad leaders in the military dont get to choose their squad , they are assigned by the platoon leader. Then they are trained by the squad leaders. They have to learn to "become" a squad.
If you have ever been a squad leader then you should know that as SL you have the option to kick those members not doing as they are told.
I'm too busy fighting to kick useless squad members all the time. In a 64 player server this can be a common occurence and it simply disrupts my gameplay so wot I do is either I don't bother being a squad leader or I lock the squad even if it isn't maxed out.
Wot annoys me most - and is the main reason for me locking my squad - are people who actually "help" a squad to perform badly. Examples of such are people who join squads, spam grenades or are trigger happy resulting in squad members (including the squad leader) being team killed.
Then there are those who join, spawn on you and run around like headless chickens in front of your gun just begging to be team killed. Another thing that pisses me off is whiney 12yr old kids who join my squad and starting screaming out for orders, supplies, UAV, start giving advice like they know better than me, etc, etc.
The last guy who I kicked out of my squad before locking it wos a drunk German bloke who bitched on VoIP about the lack of squad orders. I'd told him to do wotever he wanted to do cos the rest of the squad comprised of a bunch of randoms who weren't using VoIP and were doing their own things but the guy just had to start swearing so I told him to f-off before kicking him out and locking the squad.
He then got a tank and went off on a team killing spree before being kicked by the server. And no, he didn't team kill me when I booted him out the squad. He just team killed anybody who crossed his path. Senseless, random and simply pathetic behaviour. In the end he racked up quite a lot of team kills in his drunken rage and wos promptly ejected by the server.
And last but not least the gamer who is a "serial squad hopper". He joins my squad JUST cos it's near the action. If I, the squad leader, die he jumps to another squad almost immediately - I am sometimes a medic but these selfish pricks won't bother swapping kits to revive me and keep the squad spawn point going.
They're just there to abuse and use squad leaders and the fact that we act as mobile spawn points allowing them to get into the thick of the action much faster than a usual spawn point. It is because of the reasons above that I am FOR the ability to lock squads.
If people join my squad and help out then I have no problem with them at all. There is no need wotsoever to lock the squad. But if they join and act like arseholes or are selfish pricks then that's when a locking comes into action. I hope I've justified myself to those against the ability to lock squads.
I know there are people who abuse this ability and operate one man locked squads - most of them I've noticed are lone snipers - but I certainly am not one of them. You will never find me in a locked one man squad. If you by some chance do it's cos I've been paid a visit by a "squad hopper".
