Soundcard.. You could but its not essential. Noises still come out the speakers with onboard sound so you can get a X-Fi later on if your not happy with it X-FI Xtreme Music - $178

As Cyborg said, like Lego. Very simple.

Turbo cache share's system memory and is not very good at running 3d games.....withthe rest of the rig you should be able to run on Medium at a res of 800 x 600  with AA and AF turned off if youi can afford a seperate graphics card. 7300 7600 you can up the resolution to 1024 x 768 maybe higher
With my 7600 GS I can run Bf2 on 1680 x 1050 on 99fps.
what settings are you running? i've got a 7800 gt and i play mostly on high with AA off and get around 60 fps.

I would not recommend anything below an Pentium 820 processor.  The 805 series drops you down to 533FSB where as the 820 and on up uses the 800FSB and can be overclocked very well from what I have experimented with.  I would also recommend getting at least 2GB DDR2 (try to get 667MHZ mem, dont get 800MHZ you will run into bottleneck issues with the processor) memory as it is pretty cheap right now.  I would also recommend spending a little extra $ and go with the 7600GT vs the GS there is an incredible performance gain by going with the GT, I have included a link that shows the benchmark results for the 7600GS vs the 7600GT.  I would also recommend getting at least (1) SATA-150 10K Raptor drive.  I've noticed that BF2 uses the Windows page file alot while in game, the 10K spindle speed and 16MB buffer will make a ton of difference in load time and performance.  Its a little extra $ but will give you the extra added boost that you are looking for.

System Specs:
Pentium D 840 3.2Ghz
2 GB DDR2 533MHZ OCZ Spec Ops
Western Digital SATA-150 10K Raptor 36.7GB
ECS 570SLIT Motherboard 570Nvidia chipset SLI board
(2) EVGA 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 Graphics Cards in SLI mode

Great System for BF2

High for most stuff, except textures, due to only 1GB of RAM, 2x AA. You should probably get decent frame rates on that rig with those settings.

I think.
