Blanket defence of snipers in the game (snipers rawk!) would be just as bad as blanket condemnation (snipers are all fags! which is why I don't do it, and why I've tried to lay out, repeatedly, where it is that snipers can contribute to the team's goal; and Christ dude, it's not like I'm the only one. Go read some of Books's posts on sniping for a start, that's just one perspective on a particular style of play using the kit, and I don't think anyone could fault them.

And goddamn if the proof isn't available for anyone who bothers to look on any handful of games they play. Sure it won't be every game that a sniper (or more than one) makes a contribution, but then I've had games where I've outscored medics in team points (that's medics, plural, not some noob at the bottom of the scoreboard) so we should be careful of gross generalisations, doncha think?

The claymores really dont bother half as much as when it comes down to having no flags left and the only players left alive are snipers, you might as well forfit the game.  What I have seen is that no sniper has ever gone and taken any flag in order to get the game going again.  They just sit there in there pretty little hiding place just waiting to be found and shot, game over.  Some one with a good kit will at least try to take a flag and  at least go down fighting.

i agree, snipers just got a bad rep because of all the clay fags. sniping is still fun as hell.

I don't hate snipers leaving their claymores next to a flag or on rooftops.. good flag, self protection. But I've seen many cheap snipers on FF off servers who just spam claymores and do nothing else.. not even one kill with sniper rifle.. Like for example in the palace on Warlord map.. they just leave claymores in corridors.. wait till it kills someone.. leave them again... and again.. and again.. and do nothing else. Or just run in front of enemies and drop clays just before they kill him.. It's just cheap no-skill gaming..

Honestly i see your point, on the other hand you seem to forget some of those "claymore-spammers" were just trying to get their vet/exp explosive badges.
I wonder how you did get yours, since I found using AT mines or C4-traps not quite so effective for that purpose.

Well.. I got mine with C4 quite long time ago.. But I think it was easier at that time. Before one of patches you could toss C4 almost like hand grenades. I think I got it just before the patch changing it came out. Same with my knife badge.. got it just before they made jump-prone-stabbing (or whatever it was called) impossible.

My point exactly.  That's why I posted this....I'm sure a really well thought out comment is coming.  All with the words "noob," "whiner," "you don't know shit," "you suck" e.t.c, e.t.c.  You know, the usual "intelligent" comments.  The one's that leave you scratching your head for all the wrong reasons.  Kinda like the quotes below.

Honestly.  I'm not insulted if someone calls me a "noob."  I don't devote an exuberant amount of time just playing this game.  I have one account and me my room mates play on that one.  So I could care less if you think you're better at a video game than others.  Point is.  It's a video game and it's there for everyones enjoyment.  You don't have carte blanche over any single part of it.  If someone gets in a jet or a heli first, just wait for another one to spawn.  If you think they are that bad at it, then one should spawn soon enough...Right!?  You might very well be better at flying a particular vehicle, I'm not denying you that, but it gives you no right to team kill and ruin someone else's gaming experience.  Simply put.  It's in poor taste.  Or  as you would put it..."That's noobish."

Wrong!  So what you're saying is...If a server doesn't have friendly fire on, then it's completely acceptable to team kill for that vehicle.  Please tell me you're joking.  Remind me to never get into a server with you.  I paid for my game out of my pocket, just like many have.  If I want to get into a jet and fly it, and I've patiently waited my turn for it, not having team killed, not having cheated or glitched for it.  I should be able to fly it without fear of being team killed by someone retarded enough to think it's their god given right to get into that vehicle.

Point being.  Like that team killing douche, I should have the opportunity to fly.  I'm not asking for anyone to give me that opportunity.  All I'm saying is.  Once I've created a chance for myself to get into that vehicle, I deserve to operate it without being team killed.  Purposely driving out of bounds, team killing...there's no excuse for it.  Period.

Funny that you should say that cyborg.  You're right.  It is just a frigging video game.  That's all the more reason for these schmucks to realize that team killing for that one jet or heli, smacks of something monumentally retarded.  It's a video game for chirst sake!  It's supposed to be for fun.  "FUN" being the operative word.  Getting team killed just because you got into that jet before someone else did.  IS NOT FUN!

No one say that claymores are for explosive badges coz thats BS. If you have skill then you can get it with C4 like I did. With good old fashioned C4 chucking ( prety hard to do now a days ) in Night Flight.

claywhore=bad, agreed, but as a sniper, i dont just sit back and watch the game, i take out the spec ops sticking c4 to the back of your precious armour, i spot distant incoming threats, i give you easy kills if i miss (not often), and yes, as a sniper, armed with 2 anti personnel mines, i cap flags. tell me im not a team player

3-4 snipers on a team is fine, but when there are 10, your team is doomed from the beginning.
