Heres a picture what the r600 might look

http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=120679

heres the specs

65nm
64 Shader pipelines (Vec4+Scalar)
32 TMU's
32 ROPs
128 Shader Operations per Cycle
800MHz Core
102.4 billion shader ops/sec
512GFLOPs for the shaders
2 Billion triangles/sec
25.6 Gpixels/Gtexels/sec
256-bit 512MB 1.8GHz GDDR4 Memory
57.6 GB/sec Bandwidth (at 1.8GHz)
WGF2.0 Unified Shader

cost 630$ plus a bump in you electric bill, a new psu, retarded cooling so it will cost about 1000$ more or less to get the card safely running.

Wow, that's gonna produce a lot of:

- mess in your case, since it's that long
- heat
- pain for all who just bought PSU with 6-pin connectors for gfx.. Why the hell is there a dual 4-pin connetor?
- pleasure, if it really beats the 8800GTX and nVidia doesn't throw in something new, something better.

nVidia will most likely release a 8950

You won't need a new PSU. 500w will be enough, as long as you have a good +12V rail amperage.

Now thats just friggin' retarded. Remember, you can have TWO of these in crossfire. That will require one hell of a PSU to power.

the length is amazing ;/ i'm not even sure it will fit in my p180.. i have one of the largest cards on the market (x1900xt - over 50mm bigger than 8800gtx) and it fits with around 32-40mm space left..

Just hook up a gas powered generator to your PC. Well, maybe two of them.

A graphics card 150% bigger than the motherboard it site on. I KNOW it wouldn't fit in my case, and there is no way you could run that thing on any less than 600 watts.

WOW GDDR 4 at 1.8 GHZ that almost as fast as my laptops processer which is a 2GHz AMD trutinon x2 or w/e its called. i wonder why the 8800GTX dident get GDDR4 and the GTS  thencouldstay with GDDR3. WOULD THE BE ANY DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE SAME CARD BUT ONE HAS GDDR4 AND ONE HAS GDDR3????

They were racing to beat the Christmas rush. They wanted to be the first using unified sharers as well. I'm betting we will have another 8 series out by the time ATI gets this one to market.

3 months to the launch of the R600 card, according to someone i know who works for ATi (well, AMD now).

Is ATI trying to kill their market share?

I have three hard drives and a DVD drive inside my computer. My BFG 6800 Ultra demands juice from two individual 4-pin rails, and sometimes declocks itself if I connect an extra component. The PSU is 550W.

So damn...

i think i'm in love. and its released just in time for my new build. YAY
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Those components won't need more than 60W overall. Never. Also, your GFX card does certainly not need more than 80W.

So either you've bought a sucky 550W PSU or you overclocked your CPU so that it consumes about 300W

For one thing, it is supposed to come with an external PSU.

Second, they hyper-inflate the specs.

One of the many tech sites out there (I forgot which one) did a test. They took a Kill-o-Meter (I think it's called, used to measure how many watts are drawn from the wall) and measured their rig.

Their rig was a (I think) Intel C2D X6800, 2GB DDR2 800 RAM, one nVidia 8800GTX, and a Raptor X 150GB HDD. The PSU they had was 85% efficient. After the efficiency was factored in, it drew like 273W from the wall, for the whole system. Keep in mind that the CPU alone takes close to 100W.

So, I doubt it takes 250w by itself.

I think you maybe misunderstood him...

The R600 is supposed to launch at the end of January. That will be a GDDR3 version. In March, it will be revised to GDDR4.

well, he could't officially tell us when it was out, but:

"3 months and it'll all be over. no more of this bullshit work schedule, and i can finally play with you guys again."
