He already has a new CPU, but the mobo doesn't support it.

Magik, that sucks man. Those Alienware techs sound like they don't know squat(big surprise). A BIOS update would probably do the trick, but God knows if there's one available from them.

Ya Foxconn told me to talk directly to Alienware & Alienware won't gimme anything because I'd have to admit to upgrading my CPU in the first place which would void my warranty & ability to use their tech support. Just got my system up & running with my new mobo though & am running 3DMark06 right now to see if there's a performance difference at stock speeds.
My new mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131593 & I have to say it's the sexiest piece of computer hardware I've ever seen with my own eyes I'll be able to overclock pretty nicely too.

Thanks for all the help. Alienware wouldn't even send me a replacement card reader & they only cost like $20 plus the one they sent me was outright defective, I tried it externally on my laptop & internally on my other desktop (which i gave to my brother actually) & it just didn't work but they wanted me to send my entire system in to replace it
I think they might be on to me, lol!
