If the ranks and awards were that difficult to get, they'd have no meaning for casual players (like myself).
It's satisfying to every now and then get told you've earned a new badge, or ribbon, or even rank. If everything beyond basic badges had requirements of 100+ hours, those of us who don't play all that intensively would never see them. It's taken me nearly a year of play to clock up 366 hours total. My highest kit time is Engineer with 63, so it's conceivable I'll get to Expert Engineer sometime, but it's going to take months.
Similarly, after 11 months or so, I'm on the final leg of First Sergeant, so those last unlocks are getting closer. It'll be nice to finally get regular access to those last weapons.
